You got some great shots!
As far as the diversity issue, I see where Aries is coming from to an extent. However, at this is a big however for me, it's hard to say that the picture represents no diversity at all. First of all, it's a small section of what was, presumably, a large crowd. Secondly, diversity is made up of so many components. Those people could all be different religions, have varying incomes, come from different cultural backgrounds, be homosexual, bisexual, etc. Color isn't the only component of diversity.

Funny, I didn't even NOTICE the skin color of ANYONE in the background. Didn't even cross my mind to look at that. Boy I am already scared for this upcoming election if this is the mentality of the majority of voters.
Amen. Seriously i had to go back and look.
Why do people ALWAYS go straight to race? As a minority by definition I find that sad. very very sad. I wish in general we kept race out of it period. Stop looking at color of the skin and hear the words coming out of their mouths and the actions they take.

It is so laughable that the anti Romney people have to turn an innocent pic thread into a Republican vs Democrat debate. God forbid the thread was about pics of Obama and anyone said rude comments about him!

Re: went to Romney rally today, got some decent pics.
Since I commented in the beginning laughing at the post about the lack of diversity, I just feel the need to clarify.
I felt that comment was funny- mainly because i hadn't noticed it until that poster pointed it out. It's along the lines of something Jon Stewart would point out, and no one would get offended about that.
I do not agree that the lack of diversity in the picture is why i am glad I am a democrat. Romney's ideals alone make me glad to be one, I don't need to look at the races of his supporters

I do notice a lack of diversity. I really do think diversity is important. America is a melting pot. It always has been. I think it's representative of who we are as a nation.
ITA. I don't think it would be hard to find stats to show the Republican party is overwhelmingly white and probably male. And the party will suffer for it. I know many educated, middle-class people of color, who do not feel the Republicans represent their interests or even attempt to hear their concerns. And if the party is going to survive, they need to acknowledge that and address it. While I'm a pretty die-hard Democrat, I feel multiple party views need to be represented, and if I ever come across a moderate Republican who's not trying to govern my uterus and insist I be Christian and carry an Uzi, they may have a shot getting my vote.

Seriously they'd be buried in insulting comments about Romney instead and say that they had nothing to stand on. Can't insult Obama here. It won't fly. You'd be lucky to not be blacklisted at best and at worst the butt of all sarcastic comments for the next year.
But for sure you post a thread making fun of or insulting Obama and you'd get a lot of

WOW...I feel like I just played "One of these things is not like the other" looking at those pictures!
There is defintely a lack of diversity in the crowd Another reason why I'm happy to be a democrat!
I'm confused by this. I don't get why a lack of diversity in the crowd would make you proud to be a democrat? So because Obama attracts more "diversity" it automatically makes him the better choice to RUN our country? We all CHOOSE who we support. In fact, some people will vote for Obama simply b/c he is black, not because he is the right man for the job. Seems pretty PREJUDICE to me to choose TO vote for someone based on skin color (or their supporters' skin color) AS WELL AS to NOT vote for someone based on skin color (or their supporters' skin color).
With beliefs such as this, we will NEVER get the right man in office. That same belief is what got Obama into the office to begin with, NOT his credentials to RUN our country. Which clearly was illustrated in this past debate by far.
Funny, I didn't even NOTICE the skin color of ANYONE in the background. Didn't even cross my mind to look at that. Boy I am already scared for this upcoming election if this is the mentality of the majority of voters.
Do you really think the debate illustrated who has the credentials to run our country? Spit in my face tell me it's raining debates? I don't think they are an indicator of anything. They are politicians. Salesmen.
eta: And I think voting for the winner of the dog and pony show they call debates is what is the scariest. Just ask President Dukakis and President Mondale how their first great debates went.
Honest question- I do not follow politics regularly, so I DO watch the debates to learn more about the candidates.
What is the point of the debates if you shouldn't use them to judge the candidates?

Do more reading than watching. Pay attention to the things that you are concerned with. Their initiatives and policies. Not the performance. That's really all I meant by it. Same with the commercials. Usually sound bites that don't have details. Romney had no details but "looked and acted" more Presidential.
I have no idea where Obama's head was but rest assured for the next one he'll be well equipped with sound bites. Let's hope that both come prepared with details and direction. Otherwise it's just a performance.

The debates are NOT for the "smart" people. They are not for the people who have educated themselves in politics, basic philosophy, and have a decent understanding of the issues.
Debates are ONLY to win over those who are uneducated about the issues and will listen, THINKING they are getting ACTUAL facts.
The debates are not factual. They are about one liners, bob and weave, and not answering questions. Its about one-upsmanship and getting the last word. Its about attacking anything and everything the other guy (or gal) says and saying WHATEVER ti takes to sway voters to you.
No where in a debate is there room for ACTUAL content that the American people are SO desperate for.

Exactly my point. The logic is that these debates are not game changers. They don't answer questions. They are just performances. A lot of undecided voters will be swayed by the show. Hey everyone likes a good showdown. If both came at each other then that would be good TV! But one decided not to play. Maybe that was his strategy all along. Who knows? To me it's not about the debates. I know how I feel about the issues we face. I know what each candidate stands for. If something came out of the debates that I didn't already know or if there was a change in the tide for real, then I would have something to chew on. That is highly unlikely.

Why can't people just be indifferent to these photos? It's not affecting your life that someone posted pictures of a Romney rally, and it's not like the OP made some bold exaggeration or something. Does everything need to turn to a debate?

It has been said that Obama was the media's golden child, he has barely been challenged by the media, barely runs press conferences, etc, and then of course was SPEECHLESS when he was actually challenged by Romney to explain what he is talking about.
Let's face it. People assumed b/c Obama was black (and democrat), it was automatically a "change". And sadly people still are going by this, 4 years later, despite Obama's lack of performance this last 4 years.

My question is - if Obama "won" the debate, would people be saying the same thing? It seems like the only defense that Obama fans have is this or that Romney was lying.

So, where do I go to get UNBIASED facts about the candidates? (I've taken the quizzes...I still don't know who to vote for)
And therein lies the question.
Where.
I am a democrat, but am VERY conservative. I don't love the too left or too right.
Fox is very right and leans toward Romney. They are very conservative.
Everyone else, for the most part, is more liberal.
What I suggest is figure out whats important to you. 1. For me its social issues (abortion, women's rights, gay right.) 2, Its about job creation 3. How is the economy. 4. What does each candidate have to say about these issues. 5. Taxes- who is going to raise them? What can I ACTUALLY believe? 6. Healthcare- What is the good stuff AND bad stuff about Obamacare? I know the good, I know the bad. Or at least I THINK I do.
Then I read. I read Fox. I read moveon.org. I read MSNBC. I read the NYTimes online. I read articles. I tend to stay away from the Right wing stuff because they do not agree with me about their stance on women's issues. I read. I read articles. I look and see what my friends post on facebook.
I take EVERYTHING with a grain of salt and make my own conclusion.
And I try to stay away from ANYTHING that mudslinging. None of that crap is true.
I also like to look at Factcheck.org. They actually look up things both candidates say and tell you if what they said is ACTUALLY true.
I saw this link today and will be looking at it .
http://www.wptv.com/dpp/news/national/debate-fact-check-complete-breakdown-of-facts-fictions-from-the-obama-romney-denver-debate
And I watch John Stewart and Colbert. They are left leaning. But I have to tell you, some of the best news and facts come from them. Who would have known?
This is actually a great question.
