Late walkers!
If you had a late walker when did they walk? DS will be 15 months soon. I'm not concerned b.c he's cruising and very strong. He just loves to crawl. His older brother was late, or at leat I thought was late, bc he was walking shortly b4 15 months. Now DS 2 is almost 15 months and he's giving me nothing. Once in a while looks like he wants to then goes straight down to crawl. Worst is hearing... Whoe is he gonna walk? Or.. You have to stop holding him! Funny thing is I hardly carry him. I have a 3 yr old and there's too much going on to hold him all day. Plus, he won't let me hold him too long bc he's on the go.

Late walkers!
I have a late walker! She was cruising from 11 months old and also very strong. She started taking steps around 15 months but didn't walk full time until 16.5 months. She started out walking short distances but then would drop and crawl to get to where she was going quicker.
I was so worried that she wasn't going to walk at all. She is now 18 months and never crawls.

Late walkers!
At 12 months my DD wasn't crawling or walking. We started PT and by 13 months old she was crawling and cruising. She was just shy of 17 months old before she walked. My MIL bought her some blocks that she loved to stack and push down. One day I just put them in the middle of the room and moved everything. She had to get them so she just walked right over lol. She was and is still a pretty calculated child so I honestly think she was waiting to walk until she could do it "right". She never fell or was unsteady at all. Now Learning it run/hop/skip/jump and so on...there have been many many many falls!

Re: Late walkers!
DS was over 15.5 months when he started to walking. He was barely even cruising/attempting and then one day, he just let go and went for it and within 2 days was walking as if he was always doing it, not even wobbly.
People would CONSTANTLY ask me if he was walking. It drove me nuts because I was already so nervous about it.

DD was 15 months. We happened to be in Party City and she just took off and started walking down the aisle.

Re: Late walkers!
DD did not start to walk until she was almost 18 months old. She had fallen down the stairs the first time I let her crawl up by herself at 12 months old. I caught her mid fall but she still sprained her ankle.

Re: Late walkers!
DS enjoyed cruising with walking toys and holding my hand, but would drop to the ground as soon as I let go of one of his hands. When he turned 15 months, his first steps were walking halfway across the room to chase a ball. He was walking FT within 10 days.

Late walkers!
My DD just started really walking at 16m (14m adjusted). She started crawling a bit late too, around 11m (9m adjusted). she was cruising for a month or two before taking off. then she started taking a few unassisted steps here or there, and within 2 weeks she was walking. its been around a month of walking and she's still getting the hang of it. she still crawls a lot too.

Re: Late walkers!
Both of my sons were late walkers!
DS #1-just shy of 15 months.
DS #2- 16 months.
My second son started cruising much younger than his brother, yet he was older when he started walking.
I used to hear it from people a lot- "oh he is not walking yet"? It was annoying. According to the ped, there is not a developmental issue unless they are 18 months or older.
My MIL was the queen of asking me this on a regular basis. However- my DH didn't walk until he was 17 months! I was 11 months when I did. But DH was always a great athlete and well coordinated, whereas I am not! So it doesn't concern me that my sons walked on the later side.

Re: Late walkers!
DS walked at 16 months, and DD at 18 1/2 months. I swear DD heard me talk to DH about calling EI. The next day she was running, literally.
My kids were happy butt scooters.

Re: Late walkers!
My second son was a late walker, early talker. He started walking at about 16-17 months. But he could count to 10 at 14 months. Every kid is different

Re: Late walkers!
DS walked at 10 months. But DD? - SEVENTEEN months. She crawled FOREVER. It's totally fine, don't worry! And don't listen to those people asking you when he's going to walk.

Re: Late walkers!
She started walking at 17.5 months...my DD was not a crawler she scooted across the floor (it was pretty funny) We just kept practicing with her by having her take a few steps between me and DH we practiced everyday. We signed her up EI but didn't qualify.

Re: Late walkers!
My DS is 13 months and not walking. He cruises and stands by hisself but will not take a step. He didnt crawl until he was almost 10 months. I am not concerned nor am I in a rush for him to walk but like you, I do hate the "Oh he isnt walking yet?" comments.

Late walkers!
DS is 14 months and just started trying to walk, he takes 2-3 wobbly steps at a time. He cruises and crawls like a speed demon though, so I'm not concerned.

Re: Late walkers!
DS was 15 months when he started walking - no cruising before hand - he just rolled all over the place.
He miraculously started walking the day we brought his new baby sister home from the hospital...
