Late walkers
DS is 14 months and not walking yet. I'm not concerned b/c he cruises all over the house. He holds onto everything and will also stand up on his own for a short time when he lets go of something.
Question is... when do they have enough balance to start walking?
Asking b/c even though he lets go of the wall or table he'll stand ok for a bit then looses his balance shortly after. He'll walk holding my hand, but it's almost like he walks sideways like he does when he walks holding on the wall or furniture.
He also never stood up on his own from sitting. Is there some kind of order they go in b4 walking?

It sounds like my dd. She was a late walker @ 15 1/2 months. I wouldn't be too concerned. Once he gains confidence, he will start making tiny steps.

Re: Late walkers
My DD is in the exact same stage right now... literally everything that you wrote could have been written about her. She'll be 14 months in 6 days.
DD was a late crawler too though, so I'm just letting her figure it out in her own time. They'll get there.

Thanks!
Funny thing is Mason was a late sitter, but he crawled early or on time. He sat at 7.5 months on his own and then a few weeks later he crawled.

Re: Late walkers
Chloe cruised holding onto stuff for months. One day she stood up in the middle of the floor all by herself and I said, "chloe, what are you gonna do now?" and she walked about 7 steps out of nowhere. From then on she was a full walker, she never really toddled. I think sometimes they just need the confidence to know that they can fully do it while others will try before. I wouldn't worry, im sure he'll be walking in no time

Re: Late walkers
My DD was an early walker, but my best friend's son was very late - about 14.5 months.
She actually had him evaluated because he NEVER crawled. He sat up on his own, he could roll over, and for about a week he did a "worm" thing....Then, one day he pulled himself up and started cruising and then about 3-4 days later, he was walking!
