How to entertain children at a christening?

We are having DS's christening at a restaurant in November. it will be a sit down dinner with mostly adults 4 children (btwn 1.5 and 4) and three babies around 6 months of age.

I want to get a few things to keep the kids entertained. I thought of coloring books and crayons, but that won't keep their attention for a 4 hour party. Any other ideas of a few things I can get?

my friend had baskets full of those kinds of things. she also had trucks/cars for them to play with

she also had foam stickers for the kids to decorate hats, frames, and other things she bought at ac moore.

she also had big beads and necklace strings for the older kids. im pretty sure she had separate bins for them bc of the little kids not getting a hold of it.

How to entertain children at a christening?

Honestly I wouldn't do anything. Its not a kids party and there are only a few. Parents can entertain their kids.

I would def not do more than coloring books.

I agree with this. Kids will want to run around anyway. The young ones under 6 months don't need entertainment.

Re: How to entertain children at a christening?

speaking from experience ( i have a 3yr old and 4 month old)
i went to a chirstening (sit down dinner) and there was no room to run around and nothing for the kids.
Thank Goodness we had our iphone with youtube videos. My daughter and the other kids were bored out of their mind!

We had dd2 christeening two weeks ago at a hall (with dJ) but i still made a goodie bag for each kid which had
Coloring book
crayons
bubbles
glow sticks
stickers
tambourines

in addition i had balloons (with helium) as decorations but the kids were playing with tehm as well.

i think its a nice gesture to have things for kids bc as we all know its hard to entertain a 2 , 3 or 4 yr old at a sit down dinner with nothing to do!

I had the restaurant set aside a table with no place settings and I put out crayons, coloring books, games, etc. Thank god I did. The restaurant was tiny and the kids couldn't run around. It was great and kept them entertained.

as a parent I always bring some stuff to entertain my kids if we are going christening/bday party that is a sit down dinner/lunch.

I would just do the coloring books and call it a day.

I had more than 4 kids and I did goodie bags for them, I gave them out after they ate bc they had candy/goodies in them plus some glowing toys, stickers, balls - coloring books/crayons will be fine though, stickers are always popular too and those disney puzzles from the dollar stores too.

We had a color wonder pack for each kid, plus bubbles, balloons, stickers and little cars all over the kids table.
