HSG Questions
I met with Dr. Droesch on Friday and she would like me to have the HSG proceedure done next Friday, 4/9. I have a phone number to call tomorrow to schedule everything. The info sheet says that I will need to have bloodwork done prior to the HSG as well as take an antibiotic. How does this all work? Will they set me up with everything when I call tomorrow?
ETA: I just picked up the antiboitic and I will need bloodwork. Thanks for all of your feedback!

Re: HSG Questions
I just had my HSG 2 weeks ago and I did not need bloodwork or an antibiotic, did your doctor say why you would need the bloodwork? The antibiotic is probably b/c there is a very small chance of infection so they want you taking them just in case.

Re: HSG Questions
I had an HSG done a month ago and I did not need bloodwork or an antibiodic either. If they don't say anything when you make the appt, I'd call your dr's office and ask them.

Re: HSG Questions
Same as above with all PP...no antibiotics or bloodwork.
I did take a Motrin before going and I felt NOTHING. I highly recommend this.
GOOD LUCK!

Re: HSG Questions
the bloodwork may be to proove that you are not pregnant. They will only do it before like day 8 or 10 of you cycle and if you have had sex some places will not do it! my dr had done bloodwork for other reasons and just faxed it over to them.

Re: HSG Questions
I don't recall having bloodwork done, but I did have to take antibiotics starting several hours before the procedure.

Re: HSG Questions
I had the HSG done a few weeks ago, it was very quick and painless. I had to take antibiotics the day before and day of the procedure. They do this b/c there is a small chance of infection with a HSG and the anitbiotics will help to prevent.
They did make me take a pregnancy test prior to the HSG.
Goodluck!

Re: HSG Questions
One place I called for the HSG required a blood test to confirm I wasn't PG. Another place, where I had the HSG, did not require one. But they also told me not to BD until after I had the HSG done so I couldn't be PG. Some docs prescribe antibiotics to prevent infection from the procedure.

Re: HSG Questions
I had to take antibiotics prior to the procedure (to prevent any possible infection from th eprocedure), but no blood work.
