would you call the police tonight about fireworks?

the people in the court directly across from our house have been setting them off all day.

i didn't care before but DS is sleeping now and it's worse.

i did call our precinct and of course they are inundated with calls, the officer i spoke to said they would try and send someone over.

i am so pizzed, not only are fireworks illegal but they are dangerous and i am afraid they are going to wake DS up.

but of course i am also too afraid to say anything b/c there are a lot of not-so-nice people that live in this area and i am sure they've been drinking... not a good mix.

Would I call police because my children are asleep and I am afraid they will wake up? NO!

I think the police turn a blind eye on a day like today, unless somethng more than firework lighting is going on.

at 10, i don't think the police would do anything. if they were doing it at 12 or 1, then i would surely call them

The "college frat" across from our house was lighting them off a lot a few years ago...before ds.

They woke me up at 3AM. I walked out to the end of driveway and started screaming. DH called the police.

The next day we called their landlord at 8AM. He wasn't happy.

They aren't there anymore.

honestly, NO...I know they are illegal but honestly it is the 4th of July. I can see if someone was still shooting them off past 11:15 but IMHO, 9PM is too early to even complain. That is when the majority of the fireworks begin bc it is dark out.

I live right next door to a park that is supposed to close at dusk so when people start doing fireworks that could potentially hit my home and are using fireworks which are illegal, then yes I will call..

granted they won't do anything but I need to have something in writing just in case something happens. YOu never know..

I would definately call.....

Watch the fireworks on tv, it is safer and quieter....

As long as they weren't setting the building on fire or being drunk and stupid, nope. It's the 4th of July.

I grew up in MI and fireworks aren't illegal there. We let them off every year and we all survived with our limbs still attached and the kids just went to bed a little later that night. I personally don't see the big deal.

There were a bunch of morons who were setting them off right near a gas station. You wanna blow off your fingers? Fine thats your choice, but when you do it near a gas station in my neighborhood and have the potential to endanger MY family, I gotta make some calls and I don't care if it is the 4th of July or not.

Considering the situation your in, no I would not call, it is the 4th of July, illegal or not, people are still going to do it. It stinks I know. My dog has been going crazy allllllll night. I don't think I will even get an ounce of sleep until everyone stops shooting them off because no matter how much benadryl I give my dog, he still barks out of fear.

The cops are overwhelmed with calls. Unlike another poster said-they are NOT turning a blind eye to the calls, but they don't take priority to emergency calls that are still coming in.

Yes.
It is 11:50 and I STILL hear them. They aren't close enough for me to call, but they will disturb my sleep.

I hate the 4th of July No excuse.

I was tempted to when our neighbors were setting STILL setting them off at 11:30. At 9 am I didn't mind even though DD woke up a million times.

They stopped around here by 11 or so. I wouldn't call the police.....honestly, a few years ago it was DH out there setting them off at 9:30pm. Plus, I like to watch them
and my DS slept through it all.

Dh is a cop and there were busy yesterday..
they had a TON of domestic disputes, families fighting at their own parties, lots of drunks on the road and tresspassing...calls were backed up for hours...I doubt they wouldv'e been there ontime..we turned DD radio up a little more than usual and she slept through.
To answer your original questions..No I would not call because of just fireworks...however if they go off around November I am calling
