This is amazing that the plane is intact!
that's what I was thinking!! They usually break apart on Impact!!!
Glad they weren't at cruising altitude!!! Probably would've been a lot worse!!!

This pilot seriously deserves a medal of honor. He saved everyone's life. A witness said it was the smoothest landing. You couldn't even hear it hit the water.

There are ferries that are tied on and trying to hold it above water, but the images I saw on Ch 7 a few mins ago show it much lower in the water.

I think if the plane's intact you have a little time; the seats have life preservers, and sounds like the crew was able to prepare for the landing

i dont think so - the doors are pretty high up - in those safety videos people can get in those big slides and get out you know?

no, it's still floating- I think they are made to float for a bit
but it's been over an hour

it was only at 3200 feet, hit a LARGE flock of birds, and it was a 'controlled ditching' -expert calls it a textbook landing!!!

The plane is an Airbus 320, US Airways flight 1549 from LaGuardia to Charlotte. There were 146 passengers on board the flight, along with 5 crew members.
The FAA is reporting all passengers are out of the plane, and a secondary search is underway.
The plane went down near 48th Street. The plane took off from LaGuardia at 3:11 p.m.
Government officials say the plane's two engines went down after a bird struck the plane. Witnesses say it appeared the plane made a controlled landing

They are calling the pilot a hero - that it was as perfect a landing as you could have with no engines and landing on water!
