DHA Vitamins?
My OB suggested possibly changing my prenatals yesterday to one with DHA in it. I looked at my Target prenatals and they have MORE to them than the samples she gave me....they just don't have DHA.
Can anyone recommend a good brand of DHA vitamin that MAY NOT cause the 'fishy burps'? I have a very sensitive stomach (history of ulcers, i have ibs-d) and cannot stand even the smell of fish...so a fishy burp would NOT be good for me...
TIA!!!

I have been taking Prima Care One (they gave DHA)for about 6 months and I have not had one problem with them, and I have a very sensitive stomach. I would really make sure you take the one with DHA, I hear they are realy beneficial.

I think they were in my bag - i would need the 'coated ones' - that are good for sensitive stomacs...but if the overall vitamin count doesn't compare to the target ones...i don't know that i want to change - ya know???
I did find a folic acid supplement WITH DHA...(i already take an extra folic acid every day)...so i could do that i guess...

Re: DHA Vitamins?
Why not take the ones many of us take, DUET DHA EC prenatals? EC stands for enteric coated, so no stomach upset. Totally safe, mercury free and no fishy burps at all.

I take CitraNatal with DHA. They are costly though - $45 for 30 day supply with insurance.

I THINK that's the one i compared to the list of vitamins in the Target brand.... There were more vitamins and more potency in Target...that's why i was surprised...
I mean there were a few that were the same or just below, but some of the vitamins in them were not even close to the same amount...

Re: DHA Vitamins?
I take Primacare as well. Why not just get a prescription from your doc for what she wants you to take? MY OB gave me a whole sample bag full of different kinds...they all had the 1000 mg of folic acid and the DHA/omega stuff too. Some were 2 pills, some were one..but they all had what I was supposed to be taking.

she gave me all the samples because she is concerned about the 'fishy burp thing' (she gave me like 5 extra boxes)... she said for some women, they bring on m/s....and i can SEE that happening for me - as i can't smell fish and NOT wretch... i've always had the 'fish thing', but since becoming pregnant, it's MUCH worse...

Gotcha, well I can assure you that the Primacare has zero fishy smell to it at all.

I take CitraNatal DHA. It's actually 2 pills-a regular prenatal and a DHA capsule. I have been very pleased with them so far.

Re: DHA Vitamins?
I take the Enfamil Expecta DHA pills, they are not made from fish sources.
They are normally about $12.99 a box (30ct), but walmart sells them for only $10.99. Plus in everybox you get a $2 coupon. so I only pay $8.99 each time I get a box.

Re: DHA Vitamins?
because of: my stomach issues my concerns with the fish thing my HAPPINESS with the Target prenatals (i have ibs-d and they are BINDING me - so it's really, really, really wonderful)....
i think i'm going to keep the Targets, take my one folic acid pill a day (as per usual) and add in the Enfamil Expecta LIPL DHA Supplement.....
I do take my vitamins at night - with dinner, as it's my largest meal of the day!
