I don't think many of the posters on here understand how government actually works and what powers the president possesses. Google the sun king complex. Their is far more limited in scope than most people realize. Many of the things Obama is being blamed for were not in his control.

Exactly. Watch the attached video, it's very enlightening.

IMO he will go down as the worst president in modern times.

Although, he didn't have any Lewinsky type scandals,
I would hardly say he had a scandal free presidency.

Benghazi
IRS
Sebelius demands
class warfare

List can go on... That being said, every president has something.

History will forget all of those things.... history has forgotten much bigger things than all of these.

IMO, he'll be remembered as one of the best presidents in modern times (not THE best, but one of the best)

Universal Healthcare
Taking out Bin Laden
Very likely toppling ISIS (they're making progress into Mosul right now)
First black president
Inheriting presidency after Great Recession
Gay marriage
Opened communication with Cuba

There's plenty more, but they're boring to most people, so history won't remember many of them.

Thoughts on Obamas presidency in light of election?

I am late in the game so I didn't read anything but the original posters comment. But my Husband (Military) and I will be sad to see him go. Obamacare (its actually called the Affordable Care Act) failed because of the insurance industry, not because of Obama. If everyone did their part, their were solutions. We are unfortunately part of the small businesses that got failed, but if you actually look at what he set out to do, it would have worked. Blame pharmaceutical companies, hospitals that jack up their bills and labs that charge triple. Then you have someone to blame.
Regardless, he was a stand up guy, tried for us, but you will never please everyone.
IMO the people that HATE him will always find a reason to hate anyone. They are also voting for the same guy who HATES people with disabilities, thinks woman are crap, and who said his own daughter is hot. I am good not being in the same category as them.

Really? Benghazi will be forgettable? Is that NOT big enough to remember?

Tell that to the families of the Four Americans who died during that attack.

Many more than 4 people died in Embassy attacks during GWB presidency, and that has been all but forgotten. IT is of course tragic, but I don't see that Benghazi will be in Obama's legacy.

Total failure - these are some of my thoughts:

he forced government-controlled health care on Americans, then lied to Americans, telling them they can keep their plan if they like it.

Implemented regulations that hurt the American factory job creators which prevented economic growth in this country

Repeatedly ignored the Const. by issuing numerous executive actions on immigration

Added over $7 trillion to our debt

Hurt our relationship with our biggest ally Israel

I can agree it won't be a part of Obama's legacy, but I can't see how something as huge as Benghazi can be forgotten. That is really what I was commenting on.

So are you saying that the only people that hate Obama are Trump supporters?

Didn't Hillary say Catholics have "backward opinions", called millennials "basement dwellers", black youth "super predators" and Latinos "Needy"?

We'll also need to tell the families of the dozens of Americans who died during other embassy attacks that are all but forgotten in history.

I am in absolutely no way saying that their deaths are trivial, only that history has already proven time and time again that deaths during embassy attacks will be forgotten.

Fair enough. I honestly can't argue against any of these points... I don't think he's a total failure as a president because he has done more good than bad, IMO, but I appreciate the fact that you posted actual points and legitimate problems, and I can understand your dislike for him as a president.

I think people in general would understand each other's opinions and points of views if more people would state why they see something a certain way. The whole "They're evil.... just because..." doesn't accomplish anything.

I can kind of agree with this. Looking back at history, we tend to almost always remember the juicy scandals.

Our kids wont remember this, for sure. And who knows what history books will write about this.....

I don't understand all the criticism of her looks. It's disgusting.

I agree. A good friend of mine had this discussion recently about how disgusting this is. Why are her looks even being discussed?

Because this country is effed up. Do you remember when Chelsea Clinton was in the White House? Rush Limbaugh called her a DOG. She was like twelve.

Eye for an Eye?

No, that isn't fair. It is wrong when any one does it. Hillary OR Trump. But we are all guilty of this, wrong or not. Take a scroll down the celebrity board and you will see a fiesta of negative comments about their appearances.

There's a difference with celebrities vs. politicians though. Celebrities are such in large part because of how they look. That's part of their job. Half the time they get paid to wear whatever they're wearing.

That's not a politician's function, we all know that. But I heard references to Hillary's cankles long before she had done anything to make people dislike her.

I totally admit to calling Trump a racist, orange-faced oompa loompa with a bad weave. I have not gone there in the past, but this election was born in hell and is bringing out the worst in everyone.

I will give him the utmost respect for being the first african american president. However, I am very happy his presidency has come to an end.

His presidency affected myself and my family greatly.

I got laid off.
My healthcare went from fabulous to terrible. Having to pay thousands out of pocket is unacceptable.
I am heavily taxed. The sequester changed our paycheck drastically.
Race relations are beyond tense.
The immigration and lack of border control is a joke.
The mass shootings since he took office.

I could go on and on. So I am happy to see him and his family go. Buh bye!

Agreed! Can't wait until he's GONE
