Reminds me of a conversation I had with someone once. At Wendy's they went from giving two salad dressings with a large salad, down to one. The person said it's Obama's fault. And was dead serious. Blamed it on some healthy eating initiative. Chat Icon

Chat Icon Chat Icon That is hysterical. It blows my mind, the stuff blamed on Obama. It probably had more to do with Wendys wanting to save $$$. Have you ever noticed how stingy they are with ketchup at the drive through?

I'm disgusted by the immaturity of the people on this board. It's like a bunch of HS mean girls. So sad when you get a kick out of making fun of others with different view points.

Are you serious? I was sharing an example how someone said that Obama was to blame for something so ridiculously foolish. That wasn't making fun of anyone. Well, other than my family member who said it! Chat Icon

To see the phrase "change monkey" here is so sad. I don't even mean in a pathetic way (which it is) but it cuts deeply. We have black LIF members here, some who have children... who I'm sure would never want to be referred to as that. Or read that. How sad and downright depressing to have to see a person of color be referred to as a "change monkey." In 2016. I know people don't like candidates and politicians for their own reasons but...Regardless of political feelings.... just what a knife that attempts to dig so deep. Not even trying to start a debate or change minds here, just so sad at seeing that.

The person who made the "change monkey" statement is a troll, I don't think he/she has made a comment since then and he/she is reveling in the chaos he/she has caused (hence, my earlier statement "DON'T FEED THE TROLLS."). If its not trolling, then he/she is a poor excuse for a person and I'm glad I don't know him/her in real life.

Fair enough. I've almost NEVER seen anyone throw around the word 'liberal' without it intended as an insult and I automatically added your use to that pile. Looking back, I can see that I jumped the gun.

No worries at all. This whole election has everyone in a stir. I've never before seen this whole country so divided. Sad to say, this country was at its best the days following 9-11 when we were all mourning.
No debates there. First and only time I have ever seen this country so united. Crazy!

She doesn't have a"differing political viewpoint". Have you followed the thread? She flat out blamed the first black president, the first black man in the highest position of power for the racial mess that this country has always been. Then she went on to.say she's the only person who could possibly have a black friend or live in an integrated community. Someone else called him a monkey. This isn't differing viewpoints. This is offensive bs spouted by inflammatory people, who ALWAYS ignite a thread wth thwr ignorance. If it makes me immature and mean to call them out on their disgusting statements then so be it. Also, it says a lot about a person and their character if they think I'M the inflammatory one after reading this thread. Chat Icon

To blame the first black predident for the racial tensions that exist and have always existed in this country and call him a monkey (not you, someone else called him that) is beyond highly offensive. Then to go on and act like you're this great philanthropist for the plight of blacks and nobody could possibly know what it's like to have a black friend, well I have no words for that. Ignorance truly is bliss. But if it makes you feel better to call other people idiots, you go ahead and do that. I will call you out on your nonsense and if that makes me immature and mean, well so be it.

I think the problem is its not so much different view points its the fact that just being president Obama is somehow to be blamed for every bad thing that has ever happened.

I still don't get how being laid off has anything to do with Obama and mass shootings. I am pretty sure he didn't call anyones boss and say please fire so and so.

And the poster said her self while he may not have anything directly to do with it she blames him because he is in office.

What I wonder is would everyone who blames obama for every little thing (including why wendys changed their portion sizes) would still blame the president if the candidate they wanted to win was in office.

What people need to stop doing is blaming him for everything that is wrong when most of the time it has nothing to do with him and actually figure out who is to blame and demand change from them.

You guys sit here and make fun of me when I doubt you have any black friends. I bet you all live in neighborhoods that have like NONE. You are all full of shitt just like Hillary Clinton. Go ahead and make fun of me for having a family that does nice things for people. And then calling me out and saying I am a racist in a non chelant way.

I agree, it wasn't nice to make fun of you. While your memories are great, they are also memories from a child's perspective which are probably more rosy than they actually were.

I think the difference between then and now is, in the 80s/90s, minorities had hope that if they worked hard, they would be successful. Unfortunately, over time, racial prejudices still existed in the workplace and in the community, which prevented the upward mobility that they believed was attainable. So, when that didn't happen, many minority groups felt cheated and anger grew. IMHO, that is the reason for the racial issues we are experiencing now and Obama's recognition of their plight does not make it his fault.

Maybe you are right in regards to how I viewed things as a child. My friends tell me their problems with cops, how they ae afraid to live in more white neighborhoods. I get it. But I honestly think it's worse now. It was more controlled in the 80's and 90's. It's so obvious that things are out of control. The way BLM is going after cops is just like how it was in the 60's and even 70's in NYC. At least you can express your different views eloquently unlike some of the ones on here that continue to attack me. So thanks for that.

He lost points with me because he lied. He knew about HRC's email nonsense and told us all he found out when we did. Lie.

He makes up for it for having gay marriage passed under him but I've lost the Obama love.

I'm sorta just over all these politicians to be quite honest.

I agree we know he lied about the email, God knows what else he lied about, and Obama care is a major Shit show and a disgrace.

I didn't vote for him, i am glad i didn't. I think he is a great speaker, I like his wife they seem very personable but to me they swam too deep in the celebrity pool- something i think is dangerous and self serving.

I won't even apologize for calling you one b/c you were rude. YOU assumed I was racist. And then I said my piece that a lot of you probably don't even live in a neighborhood that is as integrated as mine. Nor hang out with any. I am sure most of you don't. A lot of people are full of crap, point the finger at everyone calling them racist when they wouldn't dare live in a neighborhood like mine b/c parts of Amityville go to our district. People won't admit it. Case closed.

Well I'm not surprised this went off the rails but I am unbelievably disheartened to see the vitriol and racial spewed towards Obama.

Don't like the guy, fine.

But as I'm sure enough people on LIF know, blatant racism and white supremacy doesn't sit well with me.

It's not my place to educate on racism. You can argue a million ways to Sunday that Obama caused it or its worse now but that's easy denial. Make no mistake that having a black friend or a black teacher or liking a post on FB where white cops are handing out cookies to black kids somehow means your "not racist" while at the same time blaming Obama and the black communities for standing up to oppression.

Well meaning white supremacy isn't an excuse.

I will give him the utmost respect for being the first african american president. However, I am very happy his presidency has come to an end.

His presidency affected myself and my family greatly.

I got laid off.
My healthcare went from fabulous to terrible. Having to pay thousands out of pocket is unacceptable.
I am heavily taxed. The sequester changed our paycheck drastically.
Race relations are beyond tense.
The immigration and lack of border control is a joke.
The mass shootings since he took office.

I could go on and on. So I am happy to see him and his family go. Buh bye!

I agree with all of this. Also my husband has been laid off 2 times during Obama's presidency, after 20+ years in the same field and never having been laid off. I cannot express how happy we are that he is done. The unemployment rate under Obama is much higher than it appears to be because people like my husband maxxed out his unemployment so he was no longer factored into the unemployment rate (based on those receiving unemployment).

I am not sad to see him go. He and his family seem like a nice, polished, happy family and kudos for that. However, as a leader and policy maker, I was not at all happy with him.

I voted for him the first time but not the second.

The only reason I might be a teeny-weeny bit sad to see him go is because regardless of what candidate wins next week, it's going to be even worse!!!!Chat Icon

Funny. You have a bunch of typos in all your posts. Yea, real intelligent. It’s so funny how you guys are so damn sensitive and PC but the biggest bullies and hypocrites out there. So how am I racist? Because I said my first friend was black? Or that my favorite teacher was black? What is wrong with that? Because I said the word black? Oh sh*t. How dare I? Funny because my friends call me the little white girl. Or crazy white girl. Am I offended? Hell no. Everyone is so goddamn offended by every little stinking thing. THAT is the problem with the majority of people nowadays. And you are all probably raising little bullies and have miserable husbands. So there you have it. You must be proud. You are a bunch of bitterass women.

Whatever. Your words mean crap.

LOL pretty much the intelligent response I expected.

Well, it's a good thing you went back and edited your spelling of 'typos' or that would've made your post very ironic. Anyhow, it has nothing to do with being PC. You still don't see the racism in your statements placing blame on a black president for the race issues we have ALWAYS had?

Re: Thoughts on Obamas presidency in light of election?

I am also glad to see Obama go, as I believe the issues of disrespect and hostility towards police officers and formation of BLM - those are clearly evidence of worse race relations now than before Obama. Obama has shown serious disrespect towards our police, who put their lives on the line every single day protecting us from criminals. Goodbye OBAMA.

Also to add:

To blame the first black predident for the racial tensions that exist and have always existed in this country and call him a monkey (not you, someone else called him that) is beyond highly offensive. Then to go on and act like you're this great philanthropist for the plight of blacks and nobody could possibly know what it's like to have a black friend, well I have no words for that. Ignorance truly is bliss. But if it makes you feel better to call other people idiots, you go ahead and do that. I will call you out on your nonsense and if that makes me immature and mean, well so be it.

I assumed nothing, your words showcased your racism and they continue to do so. The black community is so lucky to have you champion for them while simultaneously blaming them for the injustices against them. You need to open up your eyes, look at the screen and re read what I wrote.

I said issues happened in the 60's and 70's. Obama reignited the war. How the hell is that racist? It's obvious! Whites and Blacks are further more divided now- more than ever. Racisim won't go away. Neither will anti semitisim, hates against gays, etc. You will always have close minded people. We have com But I truly believe that Obama re-ignited it again. During a couple of shootings, some of his comments should have never been said. I always felt that he was always there to divide when he in fact as a man born to a white woman and a black man could use that as a tool to bring in togetherness. That is how I see it. I don't feel he delivered well on trying to unite people. How the hell is that racist?

I also agree. Race issues should be better after Obama (esp being half white, half black), when they are clearly worse. Not saying he created them, but he ignited a further divide, vs bringing people together.
