Re: Bruce Jenner Interview

I was waiting to respond until I saw the interview in its entirety.
Let me preface what I'm about to say with this. I'm not a fan of the Kardashians. I think there's nothing they won't put out there and sell for a price. I was skeptical going in not knowing if it was for ratings or to keep that family in the spotlight, but after watching it I felt for him and it was emotional.
Now, as for Bruce and the interview. I can't imagine what it would be like to live your life as a lie, not comfortable in your own skin. This was going on long, long before the kardashian hoopla. This started at a very young age for him and continued throughout his whole life. Not to mention, to our generation he is known for the kardashians, but to millions of others he is known as an Olympian....the best athlete in the world as a matter of fact. He won gold in the dicathalon and was seen as an incredible male, strong figure.
I found it to be very sad and lonely to watch. What's even more tragic are all the kids out there that are rejected by their families, feel bullied, suicidal or are even beat up or murdered for trying to be their true selves.
I can only hope that opening up he has brought to light this taboo topic and has opened the line of communication for thousands of families out there and shed some light on the topic. Parents should be teaching acceptance. But, in the same breath, I hope that bc of his reality shows and the paparazzi present that he doesn't set back the movement for the transgender community.
ITA with you!
I felt really sad for him while watching the interview. I can't imagine, like you said, living a lie your whole life. He seems like such a nice person and I hope that now he's "out" (so to speak) he'll be able to find the peace and happiness he is looking for.
It was a very well done and kind interview. I have to give him credit for sharing so much, it couldn't have been easy for him.
I think what he did was extremely brave. His biological children all seamed to rally behind him, and that made me happy. Interested to see when he will come out as her, and what her name will be.

While I did not watch his interview, I hope that he/she (I'm unsure of preference) is able to live life happily to his/her fullest. It must have been so difficult to have to hide who your true self is for so long.

Re: Bruce Jenner Interview
It was a great interview. Very touching, very emotional. Bruce Jenner has been a celebrity most of my life, I can remember the 76 Olympics when he won the gold, and how he just exploded as a celebrity after that. Even had mom buy Wheaties because he was on the box. Had no idea he was connected to the Kardashian clan until the show began.
That said, I cannot begin to imagine what he must have gone thru, this strong hulking athlete with a woman inside of him. What courage she has, to finally at the age of 65, to admit to the world that Bruce is a woman. I wish her well, and wish her peace with her new self.

I find it so strange that this is even newsworthy. I cannot believe there are people who care about this. I really do not understand the obsession.
I agree. I really could careless.

Bruce Jenner Interview
I didn't watch the interview. However, I wish we could all wake up tomorrow in a world where no one gave a shit how the next person wanted to live their life. And that people could be themselves without hiding it for all those years and then doing a TV interview about it. Anyway, she's going to be a hero to a lot of people.

As my DH said, Bruce Jenner is a legend, an american ICON. Maybe you find it strange b/c you really did not grow up in the era where HE was the best athlete in the world.

Exactly. Although I was born just after the '76 Olympics, I know Bruce as an American hero on the Wheaties box. And a super masculine figure. Plus, most people nowadays still care about sexual and gender identity difference. I wish this was "no big deal," but unfortunately it is to most people. I thought the interview was a wonderful thing for Bruce and the entire community.

Bruce Jenner Interview
If the Kardashian Machine was on this show, it would totally cheapen his interview and his story. Also, I'm sure since his documentary is going to be on E! and produced by Ryan Seacrest they were contractually obligated to refrain from being interviewed.

Re: Bruce Jenner Interview
I think they (kardashians) probably were not asked, I think it's a way to sort of distance himself from them. Notice all the other child/ren of his were on. But none of them. I think it's because he has a story LONG before they existed.

This. Bruce was literally the best athlete in the world! He was/is way more famous and newsworthy than the Kartrashians will ever be.
