Closing Costs
Can you share what your closing costs were - Ideally as a percentage of total cost or as the total amount or BOTH?

In NYC (5 boroughs), the biggest closing cost is the mortgage recording tax, which is 1.8% of your mortgage, along with title, attorney's fees, etc., my total closing costs were about 3% of the cost of the house.

Closing costs vary - depending on when taxes were paid, if there's any oil in the tank, escrow, cost of mortgage, etc. They say it ranges from 3-7% of the purchase price.
That said...I paid 3% of the sale price.

Thanks for the responses so far. So beyond closing costs, the only fees one would have to pay out of pocket are lawyers fees?

ours were 2.5% of the selling price.
Lawyers fees, title fees, bank fees, taxes, & I cant think of any more.

usually you have to pay that out of pocket - i believe if you want to do that you have to do a sellers concession.

We paid only 400.00.The seller which was a bank paid pretty much everthing for our closing cost.

$16000 - ouch. It would have been $13000 but we ppaid three point on a bad loan anyway.
