Does you 5month old hold their bottle

thanks ladies... I at times find it very hard to block some comments like that out...I hear you all and know that every kid is different... I just dont get why some moms have to make you feel like you are alien for not being like them and doing as them...

Re: Does you 5month old hold their bottle

My DS didn't really 100% hold the bottle until 10 months.

I wouldn't worry about it.

My DS never held his own bottle. We switched him to sippy cups after his 1 year bday and literally until that day, I held his bottle for him. I honestly didn't mind. Chat Icon

DD is 5 and 1/2 months and she does not hold her bottle! We use Dr. Browns and I don't think her little hands will hold that big bottle for a while!!

Try not to take it to heart. I feel like people are always judging. Does it really matter in the long run if a baby holds his own bottle? I don't think so. My kids didn't until a year old, and so far they are both perfectly fine.

He didn't start holding his bottle until 5.5 mo. Even now (6.5 mo) he needs help sometimes.

ETA- one way that helped teach him how to hold his bottle is: while we were holding him in the feeding position, we would hold the bottle out to give him. He started to learn to grab him and then we would help him tilt it up.

5 months is still young. My DD didn't hold her own bottle until 6 months old. I wouldn't sweat it. Your DS will do it when he's ready. Chat Icon

This! My DS did not start holding his bottle until 6-6 1/2 months. 5 months is still young.

I don't think mine does. I EBF at home & on the weekends but DS gets bottles at Daycare. I'd be surprised if he was holding it himself. I wouldn't worry. IMO 5 months is still young.

DS never held his bottle. DD is 9 months and she doesn't look like she wants to hold it either. I don't think it's an issue AT ALL. Don't worry.Chat Icon

Re: Does you 5month old hold their bottle

My older daughter who is now 4 years old never held her bottle as an infant or toddler. I tried forcing her too and she would always drop her hands. Don't listen to these other mothers/people. Each baby is different.

Does you 5month old hold their bottle

My DS never held his bottle until the daycare teachers made him do it at over a year old. I loved the cuddle time, so I never really made him do it.

DD is 14 months and won't hold it!! I'm at the point where I accept that she'll probably never hold it. They grow up so fast that I almost don't even mind anymore. She does hold her straw sippy on her own.

5 months is still young. Try not to compare with other babies. Each one is different and will learn at different times. One might hold the bottle at 5 months and crawl at 10 while the one who crawls at 6 months might not hold the bottle until 10.
