I refuse to live my life worrying about this because worrying isn't productive. I'm not trying to be insensitive but trying to show that millions of kids go to school each day and the worst problem of the day is a broken crayon.

 There are 20 dead babies today, 20 dead innocent babies. Today was not a day of mostly just broken crayons, today was BY FAR the most horrific thing I have ever heard of happening. It is THE WORST day I have ever lived through and Im not even directly affected.
I cant stop crying! I just cant! its killing me so much- this is so horrible in every single way!

I wonder what happened. I have always read that people are more prone to snap or become depressed around the holidays.
I just never understand why take out innocent people in the process of getting revenge.

I don't think op meant disrespect. This is obviously insane and horrible beyond words. I think she meant that we can't live in fear, specifically regarding sending our children to school, bc something like this is an anomaly, and also can happen anywhere (like the movie theater). It's very sad to see that these "anomalies" seem to be happening more and more  Sick world.

I started crying when they told the father of teh kid they interviewed on channel 7 (which I felt was wrong) how bad it really was. He just thought a few people were injured...

First grade teacher Kaitlin Roig, 29, locked her 14 students in a classroom bathroom and listened to "tons of shooting" until police came to help.
"It was horrific," Roig said. "I thought we were going to die."
She said that the terrified kids were saying, "I just want Christmas…I don't want to die. I just want to have Christmas."
As if I weren't crying enough before reading that..

[Updated at 3:22 p.m. ET] It appears that another member of the alleged shooter's family is dead. A senior law enforcement official familiar with the investigation says a brother of the alleged shooter was found dead in a home searched in Hoboken, New Jersey. We already knew Ryan Lanza's mother was found dead in the elementary school.
