Cost of Daycare... for 2

just curious to see if I am overpaying or not....

I pay $115 a day for a 3 year-old and 15 month old at a Montessori school. Their day is from approximately 7:30 - 4:00 PM. I am never charged if I am late with pickup (which is rare). The director also credits me any day(s) the kids are out sick or what-have-you to the following month's tuition. I am also a teacher and I do not have to pay for any days that I am off. So essentially, depending on how many days off I have that month, it averages about $2K a month.

I feel like it's expensive and it's my sister-in-law's mom, so I know she is helping us out where she can money wise.

Is this the average? I feel like I work to pay the mortgage and daycare with nothing else left.

That's good in my eyes. I'll be paying almost 2800 per month for two .Chat Icon

I think that is the norm especially since you are not paying for days and weeks that you are off... i know most daycare places charge even if you don't take them there. i know it stinks that daycare is so expensive.... Maybe it would be worth it for you to look into hiring a nanny? My sister hired a nanny (she's also a teacher) after putting her kids in daycare got too expensive (she has 3 though).

That's how much I will be paying for 2 when #2 starts daycare. I will have a 2.5 yr old and a 2 month old in daycare.

I think so. I pay $1100/mo for 3 days a week for 1.

Mine will be $2,350 for 2.... full time hours are anytime within 7-6:30 for a 3 year old and a newborn. Its a center in nassau county.

Montessor by mei didn't work for me because of the close at 4pm thing.

I pay 2k for two in daycare. It was more when my kids were smaller but now they are 4.5 and 2. It is from 8-6 5 days a week.
