I do have to say I know 3 people personally that had bad results and everything was fine in the end. I hate this test because I don;t beleive it gives an even remote accurate result.

I suggest going to the genetic counsler and then decide if you want the amnio.

I skipped that test and am doing the amnio because I think the results are inaccurate of the NT Scan

Re: Please tell me everything will be ok....

Thanks everyone, I feel some reassurance now. Honestly, even if my baby does have down syndrome, it will not effect anything besides how I will plan for my future. I will love him/her dearly and will provide a safe and loving life for him/her. I don't know if Im more sad, scared or mad.

Re: Please tell me everything will be ok....

My SIL had a one in 4 chance according to the AFP. My nephew is now 6 and does not have Downs. Don't go by that. There are so many false positives. If you are overly concerned, you should get an amnio to find out.

Best of luck to you!!! Chat Icon

They had my poor friend thinking she was going to have a child with DS, too. She didn't do the amnio because, like you, either way, she was having the baby. Her little boy is now 2 years and and perfectly fine... heck, he's as beautiful as can be!

Lots of prayers and hugs being sent your way... I hate those tests.

Re: Please tell me everything will be ok....

I heard that chance test is not accurate. I almost decided not to do it, but want to see the baby on the sonogram again-I'm going this weekend. Chat Icon

Like others said hopefully and very possible its a false positive- it happens often - and like you said its your baby and either way you'll love and care for him/her. All your feelings are normal. Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Please tell me everything will be ok....

That test can be so inaccurate that my Dr's office doesn't even perform it. I'm sure everything will be fine. There have been so many stories on here with ladies having similar results that lead to it being false. Sending you prayers and hugs!
