Infants & anaphylactic allergies

Does anyone have an allergist that works w/infants that they'd recommend? I'm in South Western Suffolk, but will drive a bit if need be. I want to get my ds tested ASAP.

My 10m old son just had a mild anaphylactic allergic reaction to yogurt Chat Icon Thankfully w/a bit of Benadryl he seems to be doing ok now Chat Icon

I have a bad casein/milk protein allergy myself, so I knew it was a possibility that he might eventually develop one, but his Ped told me that it was SO rare & SO unusual at his age that it was pretty much laughable to worry - even w/my history. She was so convincing & sounded so confident that I trusted her & started yogurt today like a moron. Why I compromised something I felt so strongly about I'll never know & I won't forgive myself Chat Icon I'm not taking any more chances & want to get him tested ASAP, so any dr. recommendations would be very much appreciated. Thanks Chat Icon

Don't have a recommendation but i just read your post and wanted to tell you not to be so hard on yourself. You were doing what you thought was best, especially since you were basing your decision on information provided by the doctor. Sounds like you knew exactly what to do so if anything you sound like a great mom.Chat Icon

We saw Dr. Stacy Radinsky in Merrick when DS was about 10 months old.

We also saw Dr John Rooney at North Shore Allergy & Asthma Institute in Wantagh for a second opinion before he was 1 year old. They have 7 offices across LI.

We initially stayed with Dr Radinsky as that was the allergist our pediatrician at the time recommended, but the past 2 years have been seeing Dr Rooney as their hours are a lot more convenient for us.

You might want to FM Teri, her dd has anaphylactic reactions and used to see Dr Radinsky, I think she also switched to a different practice.

Thanks! I used to see Dr. Korobow at the Commack office of NSAAI before she left. I didn't realize that they see infants too (I figured that would be some sort of specialty), so I'll definitely call them to see if Dr. Rooney is available Chat Icon

It's a little bit of a hike from you but I just went and saw Dr. David Wertheim in Lake Success and loved him. He's part of the ProHealth Care group practice.

Here's his info
