Anyone have infants that have allergies???
Since the day DD was born she's been congested, and it gets worse and better sometimes...well the past two days she's been soooo congested with a cough...I went to the peds and they said she doesn't have a cold, but asked if anyone has allergies in the family, Well DH used to have them awfully and it doesn't help that he smokes, not inside or around the baby EVER but still I cant help but think it has to do with it....Anyway, ped said that it may very well be allergies but doesn't want to give a 3 month old any medication, which I totally agree with....so wanted to know if anyone had an infant with allergies and how they helped it out....
I've been sitting her inside the steam, elevating her mattress, and the cool mist humidiier....
Any other suggestions would be great!!!
Thanks!!!

Could she have a dairy allergy? That's a pretty commons sign for milk allergy in infants.

Re: Anyone have infants that have allergies???
Kameron does..she is a mess, lol.. Actually, since going on Neocate, she is a new baby but she gets that congestion still! I think she might even have more allergies than just dairy.
I have started her on baby food..GI doc told me to start veggies and fruit..she is a big girl though, lol. Here is the thing, i avoid all soy-soy can trigger and i even notice certain baby products can..i have cool mist humidifiers in every room, no kidding and i have a warm one which i pour vicks into and it seems to help...they have vapor bath stuff by J&J which can help..think they have to be 3 months or older to use that...
Since then, i have been really careful bc of the allergies but i will say, she loves her baby food! She eats like a little person and her congestion even seems better..
Heads up, i work for Quest and sell specialty testing..if you go to your pediatrician, ask for an immunocap test..at 3 months, babies can start getting this test and it can test a HUGE range of allergies from food to roaches to trees etc...babies start developing them at 3 months..well, their bodies immune systems are better developed. Negative-immunocap requires a blood draw which i havent even done with Kameron because i am a wimp about it-it is really worth it though...and i know i should be taking her in for it..i am going to ask the ped when i go for her 4 month next week to request the lab bc it is a great great test ...

wow thanks!!! The thing is she doesn't have any other symptoms of milk allergy except for the congestion so I would love to ask my ped to see if he can do the immunocap bc I'm pretty sure it may be something else!!! I'm hoping its not our dog DD is starting foods next month so I'm hoping it may alleviate some of the congestion, the cool mist humidifier doesn't work for us and the vapor bath we've done and it does help her a bit, she seems the most congested in the morning and in the evening

Re: Anyone have infants that have allergies???
True, my DD was a C section and she is more congested, told that was typical with a C section baby as they are not squeezed on the way out, lol.
Yeah, i think if it were a milk allergy you would have a fuss ball on your hands, my DD was a nightmare with 10 hour scream fits...
It might be seasonal too, we are heading into spring and honestly, allergies peak at this time of year..i call on a Family Allergist and their office has been packed! My guess is she could be allergic to something seasonal or maybe the dog?
