If your DC had a hemangioma, when did it START to go away?

If your DC had a hemangioma, when did you notice it starting to go away?

What signs did you see first, color change or size change?

What age were they and what size was the hemangioma when at it's largest?

Thanks

DS is 7 mons and he has one. The Ped dermatologist said it'll stop growing now, but could take a couple of years till it starts to go away, but may never fully disappear. We decided to wait till he's about 1.5 - 2 years and we'll figure if we're going to have it removed by a Derm who specializes in them.

You can see in the pies in my album it's on his forehead

Well my DD has 3. Or should I say had.

She had a tiny one on her chest, it's gone now at one year.

She has a tiny one on her heck and that one is fading, I can see it changing thank god.

But her largest and worst one (still small) is in the diaper area and that's the one I want to go away the fastest, but I don't see a change yet and it's worrying me. I need this one to go away, it's in a bad spot.Chat Icon

DD is probably about the circumference of a dime (maybe a little larger) and it stick out pretty far...its right infront of her ear...her hair is starting to get long enough to cover it...I don't even see it anymore but I do hate when people stare at it

you can see Mason's clearly, but his hair is covering it too. Last visit to the Pediatric Derm he said it got slightly bigger, but only b/c Mason is getting bigger. Not much change though. He wants to see him in the Spring since there won't be much change anymore.

Maybe it's the size of a nickel or a drop smaller, but like I said... the hair is really covering it now

DD is two, and hers is the same size as it was at birth (in the same spot as mine was at birth).

Jenna actually has 2, one external, one internal, both on her stomach. The external one is about the size of a dime as well and has flattened out and 1/2 has faded. She is 4

My older one had one the size of pea on his back. It started fading around a year old wand was gone by the time he was 3.

My "baby" has one in the same spot. It was the size of a quarter. Now it's very flat and very faint. He's 4.5.

ds has two... the one on his tush started going away at 9 months... it was the size of a quarter and never got bigger... now you can barely see it and it is flat (he is 15 months)

the one on his leg started out the size of someones thumb (we actually though it was a bruise from his id bracelet in the hosp)... it started going down at about 11 months but it now wraps around 2/3s of his leg.... however it is now flat and alot lighter...

Re: If your DC had a hemangioma, when did it START to go away?

My DD has one on her forehead and it is the size of a quarter. She is 9 months and it is becoming more gray and the color isn't as red more of a cranberry color. It use to be really red. I hope it goes away soon--it sticks out from her head and I hate all the questions--did she fall etc. I know it could be a lot worse. We are going back for a follow up with the pediatric derm in a month for him to look at it. He said it could take as long as 7 years to fully fade and he said sometimes letting it run its course is sometimes better than doing anything to it because having it removed could leave a scar while doing nothing could result in no scar. We will see how it goes.
