Child's room - carpet or hardwood?
My DH and I are currently debating what type of flooring to put in DD's room.
I would like carpet because it'll be comfy for playing since our basement playroom isn't finished. (I would choose a premium carpet with a short nap.)
DH says hardwood because that's what everyone wants and we'll be finishing the basement eventually so she won't be playing as much in her room then.
Which would you prefer?

Absolutely. I have one childs room in carpet and the other in hardwood. The one who has carpet just had a stomach virus and I was scared she was going to throw up all over it If I had hardwood I could have rolled up the carpet and been ok Just a mom thing to think about...

Hardwood and then you can get a big area rug.

Carpet, so *when* they fall off their bed, or their dresser, or throw their sibling off said furniture, they have a somewhat softer landing place....
Just a dad thing to think about....

hardwood, but i really want an area rug. the hardwood seems colder, and also is so much harder when DS starts walking/crawling. i hate it.

I'm a big fan of carpet in bedrooms so I vote carpet.

Same! I think bedrooms need rugs. I have 4BRs and all have carpet except 1 which is 1/2 and 1/2...

Carpet, I like little feet (and mine for that matter) to have something warm to walk on on cold winter days.

Hardwood with area rugs (they sell thick padding to use beneath). That way if you end up with any stains/damage to the rug, it's easy to replace. I also like patterns because they hide stains better, unlike most wall-to-wall carpeting.

I actually have to somewhat agree...We have hardwood and an area rug and about three weeks ago, DD fell off the changing table and landed on hardwood...needless to say now I'm on DH to get carpeting for her room...to cushion the fall somewhat...

Re: Child's room - carpet or hardwood?
My whole house is hardwood or tile with the exception of the bedrooms. I feel they are cozier with carpets. Before we moved into our new house my dd's room was hardwood and she loves her new carpeted room. She lays and rolls every night on them, something she never could do in her other bedroom even with the area rug.

Re: Child's room - carpet or hardwood?
hardwood with a large area rug (actually a bound carpet) that covers most of the floor. Its cozy, and versatile.
I'm not a fan of wall to wall carpet.

hardwoods too slippery. i vote for carpet.
my kids play so HARD with each other that i know one of them would have slipped and fallen and cracked the wood already, forget about their heads...

We have hardwood with an area rug that covers almost the whole floor. I like that but I also don't mind certain kinds of wall to wall carpet in bedrooms.
