Re: Wine Yes or no?

The first day of my 3rd tri was our 1 year wedding anniversary, so I had a glass in celebration. I don't really desire it like I used to. I tried to have one once b4, but couldn't enjoy it.

My Dr. said that if I go into labor and want to make sure it's TRUE labor, have a glass of red wine. If the contractions stop, it's not labor. If they continue, get ready to go to the hospital.

Not at all with DC #1 and will also completely abstain with DC #2. Its not worth it to me.

I'm not a big drinker, but I have had a glass of champagne during my pregnancy, and probably will have one at New Years. Everything in moderation.

I had a glass of champagne when I was like 10 weeks.
I had one glass of wine three weeks ago and one last week. I am 28 weeks so for me, its safe now to have one glass once a week.

Re: Wine Yes or no?

I totally avoided it during the first trimester. Once I was in the second I kept saying oh I will have a glass of wine at this occasion or that occasion but never did. The truth is I really lost my taste for it. If I wanted it I would have it on occasion. God knows I looooooved to drink before my pregnancy Chat Icon

Nope. Although I would love to have a nice glass of wine, I can go 9 months w/out it.

Re: Wine Yes or no?

I haven't had any and don't plan on it. Didn't have any during my last pregnancy either. Surprisingly, I've had many people tell me their OB's have ok'd wine a few times a week. For me - it's only 40 weeks - it is just not worth the risk.

yes, i have a drink about once every 2 weeks. usually a glass of wine or a pint of beer. that's just an average though - sometimes i'll have wine 2 weeks in a row, and then go 6 weeks without a drink. (i'm also referencing my pregnancy with DS).

i do, however, avoid alcohol in the 1st tri (although i did make a rare exception like when i had 1/2 glass of wine at a wedding at 8 weeks this time around).

I am not a big wine drinker I like beer which has been a craving of mine.

So Yes to beer, no to wine.

I have drank a beer maybe three different occasions (one of them I had 2!).

Re: Wine Yes or no?

I haven't, but not because I have an issue with it or that I wouldn't for any reason. I just haven't had the desire at all so why bother.

I guess I'm waiting until I can drink a bottle - one glass just doesn't do it for me Chat Icon

Re: Wine Yes or no?

I haven't but I don't normally drink wine. I haven't had any alcohol other than a sip from DH's frozen margarita when we were in New Orleans in April.

Re: Wine Yes or no?

I've had a little here and there but honestly, I love the idea of having a glass of wine but when I have it it gives me HB and I do not enjoy it at all, so I've stopped even having sips.

ETA: I was well into my 2nd tri before I had any. No way was I having any in my 1st.

Nope, why risk it?! I don't get why people have to have it

not to single you out (because other people have posted that they "don't see the point") but this is such a condescending thing to say.

no one HAS to have wine while pregnant. but if you've spoken with your OB and are aware of the risks (or lack thereof, as it may be) there is nothing wrong with having the occasional glass of wine. i'm allowed to enjoy that as much as other people are allowed to enjoy sushi, cold cuts, and tuna in moderation.

everyone is absolutely entitled to their opinion. and i completely respect someone who says they are not at all comfortable taking even a sip of any kind of alcohol while pregnant. but i would never say to them "i don't get why you don't just have a drink."

ITA! My Dr said it was totally fine. So if I want it why not. Plenty of people "have to have raw fish" and I don't get that, but to each his own. And to be honest I don't know what risk there is in an occassional glass of wine. I don't think my baby is going to get fetal alcohol syndrome from a few glasses of wine. And with my history I have learned that if something is going to go wrong its not going to be from a little alcohol or a bologna sandwich.
