I felt the same way when I went over a year ago.

I think they took about 20 pieces and I got maybe $25, $26. Not worth it to me.

Is it worth it to buy stuff from there?

Oh no...I dropped off like 300 pieces of clothing, waiting to see what they take...going back later...Looks like I might have a lot to give away.

Yup... I ended up donating everythign to a battered womans shelter. It was ridiculous the $ they were offering like $0.25/ PJ Chat Icon

At least the clothes I donated are going to a good cause!

I just stopped by the one in Sayville today and was very impressed with it. I did have a bag of clothes but decided to donate it somewhere else instead.. as I didnt think what I had would be worth a whole lot anyway.

I absolutely LOVE the idea of the store.. the stuff you can get for a mom thats in need and at those prices.. its great...

Was there an amount you had expected..?

Re: Was TOTALLY NOT IMPRESSED with Once Upon a Child

To be honest i was walking aorund while they looked at the stiff so i dont know what they gave for what items but I ws more annoyed at the fact they they didnt take some things. They gave me no real reason either. I had a BRAND NEW WITH TAGS bunting outfit for a boy and they wouldnt take it. I had a gap fall jacket for my dd wouldnt take it.as wellas some other thiings as well..

I've found that we got more having a yard sale and selling it there or donating it. They don't give you anything near what it's worth.

I rather donate my clothes to someone that needs them then sell them there.

IMO, that place is only good to buy stuff in or if you have big items to sell.

I sold a comforter set there and some toys and got a decent amount for them. I then used the money in the store and I didn't have to pay tax. Worked out greatChat Icon

I have been going there for over 2 yrs now and get a lot of their clothes there and toys. Love it!!!Chat Icon Chat Icon

It is a thrift store so they can't give you a lot for them because they have to sell them cheap. If they gave you alot, then they would have to raise their prices and no one would go there.

We walked around also while they were sorting so have no clue how much we got for which items... Honeslty didn't mind much since we are never going to use these items again... There was alot of excellent clean shape clothes they didnt take which we then doanted but overall I had an ok expereince and walked away with a decent amount...

I was very happy with my purchases from there the other day.
I figured you wouldn't get much for selling clothes, its a thrift store.
If you're looking to make money off the clothes, you're better off selling as a lot on ebay or craigslist.

Re: Was TOTALLY NOT IMPRESSED with Once Upon a Child

the Sayville one is wayyyyy overpriced. They were charging $225 for a stroller thats $280 brand new....$4.50 for a onsie! A shirt from Target had a $3.00 tag on it and they were selling for $2.75 ( to me a quarter's not a discount)...

The one in Seaford has much much better prices and I always buy from there but no where near the selection of the new sayville store.

They gave me next to nothing for my clothes , and gave a lot back but I wasn't expecting or needing much, was just re-using the $$ for girl clothes from them anyway.

You should try a new consignment store opening up on Hillside Ave., Williston Park called Baby Chic NY. I believe there sign says the grand opening is Friday, July 31.
