Hi and question
Hello all, new to this board!
So, I have one pack of BCPs left and DH and I have decided it will be our last. However, due to work, I don't want to get prego until after June. First time trying for a baby, had irregular cycles b/f BCPs and been on BCPs for @ 7 years.
Thanks!

Re: Hi and question
I voted to go off BCPs in April & use another form of BCP until June. This way, you can give your body some time to regulate after the BCPs (which can take a few months for some women) & you can still make sure you don't get preggo before you want to.

Re: Hi and question
Having been on this site for a year now, I can say try sooner then later. I have seem millions of posts of people who had to have a summer baby, or had to have a baby at this time. As much as we all like to think we are in control, TTC is anything but. One year ago when I was on this site, I never once thought I would still be hear one year later, it honestly never crossed my mind that I wouldn't get pregnant the first month of trying. I charted everyday, used OPK's to pre natals, timed BD to the second, why wouldn't I get pregnant. But I am still trying. So long story short, its nice to have plans, but go in to TTC with an open mind that it might take longer than you plan. Who knows, you could be one of the girls who gets pregnant their first month of trying. You just don't know though. Good Luck in you decision.

Re: Hi and question
I was in your shoes about 2 months ago and after no history of a problem ever and having a rough time getting it all together physically and emotionally, I recommend you don't hesitate to start.
Read my post about my DH and I wanting to wait until May of 2008 and after taking the advice of the ladies here...we went ahead and started in January and this is our third month trying. Everyone is different but I wouldn't wait.
I still don't have a normal period after getting off the pill in January.
Good Luck! Congrats and lots of Baby Dust!!!

Re: Hi and question
Thanks for you responses. Due to work, I can't be out on maternity leave at a certain time of the year (i mean i could, but it wouldn't be good). So if I start trying in June that will give me 6 months to get pregnant. If it doesn't happen than I'll have to wait till next summer. So i think i'm still leaving myself time if I have any problems.
However, it scares me cause i have no idea- it could take years! I had really messed up periods b/f BCPs (like 5 a year), so i'm not very hopeful that it will be easy.

Re: Hi and question

I really didn't anticpate have irregular periods once I stopped the pill 6 months ago. It has been taking my body a while to get back to normal (I was on the pill for 8 years). Just from hearing the fact that you had irregular cycles before the pill I think it would be a good idea to go off the pill sooner than later. I wish I was more prepared for the fact that I wouldn't have an easy time ttc but this board has been such a help finding that I relate to so many. Hopefully it will happen quickly for you. I think it's great that you are thinking about this ahead of time. Good luck!!

Re: Hi and question
Go off the pill and see what your cycles are like. If you are having very long cycles like you did before going on the pill seek the help of a doctor ASAP.

ITA! Go off sooner rather than later and start tracking your cycles. If they are long or irregular for more than a few months, then see your gyn right away. The pill masks so many problems with cycles that can interfere with TTC. I was once like you and wanted to perfectly plan having a baby around my work vacation but I quickly realized that baby making does not always follow our preferred schedule. GL!
