Re: Low Tolerance???

I have a low tolerance, at least I think I have a low tolerance because everyone thinks my dd is an easy child, and I'm still at wits' end! I don't know how people have two. The thought is completely inconceivable to me!
This, exactly! I will never have another kid, my DD is an "easy" kid and I feel like I've barely survived the last 14.5 mo. I don't know how I would survive if I had a 2nd and he/she wasn't "easy". I honestly think the only thing that's saved my sanity is being a FTWM and being out of the house. I feel like a terrible person saying it, but there is absolutely no way I could ever be a SAHM.

Re: Low Tolerance???
like other people said, it depends on the day for me. most of the time i have good tolerance but it does kill me on the inside when my son is throwing a fit
i find ignoring him & letting him cry & scream works best for us. i'll go into the other room or just sit in the same room & do something else & tell him when he's done crying he can come and talk to mommy. that pretty much works every time & his crying fits only last a few minutes

But then do you feel bad that you were ignoring? Like waver back on forth if you should've handled it differently? I think that's the hardest part for me... Wondering if I'm making the right choice

Not when I know he is being totally ridiculous & just throwing a toddler fit. I want him to know I won't feed into it so he doesn't carry on
There are other times I know he's crying bc he's EXHAUSTED and over tired... then I don't ignore him & try to give him extra cuddle time & calm him down

Re: Low Tolerance???
Like for example, on Christmas morning he pitched a huge fit because my nephew got a toy that he liked & wanted to play with... we had them take turns but then it turned into a huge tug of war between them & just decided to put the toy aside. Well my son was less than thrilled to say the least & threw himself on the kitchen floor at my mother inlaws bc he wanted to play with the toy. I simply told him that when he was done he could join us in the living room to open up presents. I was in eye sight of him the whole time... he stopped crying after 5 minutes, pouted in the corner for about 10 minutes & then came down and was over it

Thank you I too cry too often. I see or hear about so many "perfect families" where the parents and kids have such a great relationship. There is no yelling involved, no one loses their sh!t and everyone seems so calm. I often wonder what I am doing wrong.
I question myself too sometimes, but I try to remind myself that different kids have different temperaments. I think when people see active, high-strung kids they are so quick to judge the parents. I think this is where the guilt and doubt comes in. But I can already tell with my second (DD) that she is such a calmer kid than my DS. I am raising her the same way I raised my DS but he's just a different kid with a different temperament. Whereas she is a chill, calm baby, he was always more active and wild. He has turned into an active, wild 4.5 year old that can be very difficult to parent. That's just him. And btw, don't put yourself down about the "perfect family" thing. No one is perfect no matter how anyone makes themselves or their families seem.
to us all!!!
