Bfing as BC
I know everyone knows someone who has become pregnant while bfing, but has anyone here actually become pregnant themselves while bfing? I am still bfing at least every 4 hours round the clock which I know is supposed to be pretty effective at keeping ovulation from happening. I wouldn't be upset if I became pregnant again this soon (it would actually take a lot of the pressure off of us to decide if we will and when!) but I hate not knowing since I haven't gotten my period back and won't really know when to test.

Meeee!!! I never got my period - Woke up feeling sick one Saturday in September, took a hpt and surprise we are pregnant!
Dc #2 is due in may....they will be 15 months apart
We knew there was a chance you can get pregnant while bf but knew that chance was something like 2% until you get your period back so we took our chances. We figured when I got my period back we would decide how "safe" we wanted to be....but our minds were made up for us
We always wanted at least 2 and figured they would be 2 years apart...but you can't plan for everything. We're excited

This is exactly how friends of ours got pregnant with their 4th, they thought it was an effective form of BC

I got my period back 6 months after dd was born even though I was still BFing around the clock. It wasn't regular at first but my last cycle I'm pretty sure I ovulated because I could feel the pain in that area. So I don't trust BFing as bc.

If getting pregnant now is something you definitely don't want - use some form of birth control

Not personal experience, but about what you were saying about not knowing when to test.... a woman I work with didn't figure out she was pregnant until she was almost 6 months along because she was BFing so much & figured she couldn't be pregnant, she thought she just gained weight!

I got pregnant with my 2nd and 3rd while still BFing my previous baby. But it wasn't a surprise. I had already had my period back regularly and was on the mini pill. I went off it when we decided to start trying and we got pregnant on the first try both times, while I was still BFing.

Not personally, though I got pg two weeks after I weaned.
BFing is only an effective form of birth control if you're doing it around the clock for 6 months. After that point, it isn't as reliable at preventing ovulation. If you aren't sure if you want to be pregnant, use a backup.
