BFing moms..better in time or do we just suc k?

I am not graceful with this BFing at all. I don't know what I am doing wrong...I think my boobs are too big. We either do a football hold or a crossover where I hold his head in one hand and boob in other...

I hate pumping to leave the house...but I can't imagine the spectical I will cause trying it in public..

he's 5 weeks..did you already have it down?

I think it takes time. You can consult an LC to get some help with holds and learn how to do this in public. Or call LLL and ask for guidance at a meeting.

There's a terrific support group that meers 2x a month run by S. Nassau for BFing Moms. That's the 1st place I nursed her outside the house and we went from there.

I didn't get the hang of it until my first was 8 weeks. If you're concernd about nursing in public, practice in front of a mirror. Then you can see if too much is showing or not, and keep trying until you've got it down.

LOL at 5 weeks I was taking my boppy with me to new moms support groups, so no I didn't already have it down!

It does get much, much better in time.

I have huge boobs and I mean huge. To me BF in public is not an option because I could not do it discreetly at all.

The only hold I do is the football one, otherwise Jaidyn would suffocate (and I'm not kidding)

It stinks because I am limited to where and how long I can go out. To me is is worth the sacrifice of missing some things. Is this a choice for everyone, no. I am willing to do it. If I do have to leave her I make her a bottle (did this when Damien had surgery last week) She of course has decided she doesn't want a bottle, Damien did the same thing to me.

I don't think there is anything wrong with packing a bottle or two if you are not comfortable BF in public. It does get easier the longer you do it. It was definitely easier the second time around

It does get easier, I have pretty big boobs, 36F, and i have nursed very discreetly in public. Those nursing tank tops under a sweater or blouse works well, and I always bring a blanket.

The only place I've BF in "public" is at my "Transitions to Motherhood" class at the hospital. I just don't feel comfortable and I know that I never will. But I do feel less awkward feeding her now, so I do think it gets easier (at least it did for me.) I hope it gets better for you. I am really looking forward to the day when I'm done BF. I know it's good for DD and it's saving us $$$, but it's exhausting!

thanks! It has me wondering...all those people that say they had breast sightings or that a woman just pulled her's out and you saw everything..they probably are in the same boat as me!

I am so nervous of flashing a nipple..

Suzy-I know what you mean..I am just trying to take this feeding by feeding..

when I got the news yesterday of the milk allergy, after getting the news that I have way too much foremilk..I asked the dr if its really worth it at this point..he said you are doing the best thing..so I will truck on, but I hope it gets easier.

I think for the first time I am glad to have my tiny girls. I think size has a lot to do with it. When Grace was in the hospital I was breast feeding all over the place to keep her calm. But I think its less noticiable since I have little boobs.

to you and well done for hanging in there. I have been EBF my DD for nearly one year now and I can count on one hand the amount of times I BF in public. You do get braver as time goes on but usually I feed her before we go out, then feed her in the car if we go somewhere that there is no nursing room or use a nursing room or changing room if its available. I have asked in stores like the gap etc if they would mind if I use the changing room to feed and they have never refused. The reason I ask is that I dont just want to pretend to be trying on clothes.

I have BF on planes and really dont care if someone sees a nipple...I try to be discreet but with a bigger baby its harder.

I found something called the hooter hider when DD was 5 months...I wish I had gotten it sooner as I think it would work great for younger babies...do a search on google and you will find it or FM if you have problems finding it.

Hang in there..it does get easier
