Chiropractor Breaks Baby's Neck
This is not meant to be an offensive or controversial topic, just a reminder to moms and dads to make sure they do their research before bringing their baby to ANY medical professional.

Some people and chiros believe adjusting a baby from birth can promote a healthy immune system and stuff like that. Some girl I went to college with is a chiro that specializes in infants and pregnant women and she has posted pics on fb of her adjusting babies that are HOURS old. Eh. To each his/her own I guess.

Thankfully that child was not paralyzed.

Chiropractor Breaks Baby's Neck
As a Pediatric Chiropractor I feel terrible if something like this actually happened although I do have my doubts. The amount of pressure used to adjust an infant is no more than you would use to check the ripeness of a tomato. IF this did actually occur I am truly shocked. There has been an ongoing movement in Australia against Chiropractors and I wouldn't be surprised if this story is untrue.

The story was not factual...it was not the fault of the chiropractor. It could have occurred during the birth process and is more likely a cause..

For what it's worth, I took my first son to the chiro here and there...he was a very stiff baby, had problems with sensory issues and what not..the chiro was recommended and it did wonders for him. He was the most gentle doctor and really helped my son.

Happy to hear that!! I would hate for something like this to cast more doubt on the profession or deter people from going. Medical malpractice occurs in every field of medicine.

Chiropractor Breaks Baby's Neck
Definitely happy to hear that it was not true... Although that is disturbing in itself.
To another poster: it was supposed to be for the treatment of torticollis.
Again, my goal for posting this was not to put down chiropractors, and that was why I prefaced with the statement that everyone should do research on EVERY medical professional that they bring their baby too, not just chiropractors. You all already know this anyway, but I guess it was just a friendly reminder from mother to mother.

I took my DD beginning at 2 weeks until about 13 months(biweekly). I believe it kept her healthy. Ironically, within a month of our appointments ending, she got her first ear infection! I strongly believe that chiropractors are helpful!

I'm considering it for my DS. I've been researching the positive effects of getting adjustments on ADHD.

Re: Chiropractor Breaks Baby's Neck
My son saw a chiro for his torticollis when PT alone wasn't helping.

Torticollis and ADHD are just a couple of the reasons parents seek chiropractic care for their LOs. I have helped countless children avoid getting tubes in there ears, boost their immune system, improve sleep, colic, improve allergies and sinus congestion, and others. FYI I am also a vendor on LIFamilies, Islip Chiropractic.
