After a vaginal delivery......

Just wondering what everyone's recovering was like. DD is just over a week and I still have a lot of pain near my pubic bone. My doctor said about 40% of women suffer after delivery because the bone got too stretched and needs to heal and can take a few weeks.

After a vaginal delivery......

DS is almost 2 weeks old (wow...time flies) and I'm still in a lot of pain. I had a lot of internal tearing (9lb baby) though. DH had his hand resting on my hip last night and pointed out how stretched it felt -- like my bones had moved. After he pointed it out, I definitely felt it. While I was sleeping last night, there were a few times I could definitely feel my hip bones in positions I couldn't before.

I'm going back to the doctor tomorrow for another checkup (I had to go a few days after having him because of how bad the pain was). I'm still not able to use the bathroom like a regular person (I have to use the water bottle and spray) and I'm hoping to not have a 10 minute ordeal to pee for much longer. I'm planning on asking about hip pain too!

I had a little bit of discomfort PP but nothing terrible ... i'm not sure that i felt this same pain that you're describing (mine was not the bone that hurt me).

If your doctor said that many people experience that, i wouldn't worry though

Re: After a vaginal delivery......

After my first DD I couldn't sit straight for almost a month. I had a 3rd degree tear and a bunch of stitches. I bled like crazy and was just in so much pain. By week 4PP it started to get better. I remember telling my DH that I could never go through something like this again
Fast forward 14m later, I gave birth (vaginally) again. Recovery was SO much better. I felt back to normal in just a few days

Give yourself time. The pain will lessen each week, but I was in a fair amount of pain for about 2 months. Luckily I was too busy and exhausted to really notice it most of the time! Feel better, and congrats! Chat Icon

I had pain in my groin area for a few days after giving birth. And my who-ha started to feel better after about a week. Sheesh, I remember that pain well. Chat Icon Chat Icon

After a vaginal delivery......

At 1 wk PP, I was still in terrible pain!! I tore in two places (DD was tiny, but literally came shooting out, I think I pushed for only 10-15 min) and one of the tears required a ton of painful stitches that took weeks to heal! What helped me the most was taking it easy, as in doing absolutely nothing but sitting and having DH bring me everything I needed, including DD for feedings. I hated it but it really helped the pain and swelling and I finally started to feel more normal at about 3 wks PP. Just take it as easy as possible and you will feel better soon.

I was in pain still after 6 weeks but that is because I had an episiotomy that did not heal properly.

Re: After a vaginal delivery......

I only have 1 LO, so I don't have any other experiences to compare it to, but I feel like my PP recovery was awful. Each week I felt a little bit better... I'd say by 8 weeks I felt "good".

It wasn't until 12 weeks that I felt 100% back to myself in every way.

I tore, but only had 1 stitch. I also delivered pretty quickly, so I'm assuming that had something to do with it.
