Should i try for a vaginal delivery?? Please....WWYD?

As many of you know, my OB recommended doing a c-section because of a 4th degree hemorrhoid, which has gotten a little better in the last couple weeks. I was told pushing from a vaginal delivery could cause the hemorrhoid to come back, maybe even worse than before and it couldn't be a hardder recovery than the last couple weeks and I will have a newborn.
Well, i have also heard that a c-section is a hard recovery and i will have to stay in the hospital an extra 2 days.

What do you guys think? Should i try for a vaginal delivery anyway with the risk of a complication or stay with the c-section??

i wouldnt chance it... emergency C sections are A LOT harder to recover from.

it is also NOT mandatory to stay in the hospital for those extra days.

you can be discharged when YOU want to be.

i stayed 2 nights 3 days with DS (thats 1 extra day than a vaginal birth)

my friend stayed 1 night in the hospital after her 4th C section.

recovery from a C section (at least IMHO) is nothing.

What are the possible complications with the hemorrhoid if if you attempt the vaginal birth? Could it cause permanent damage, or surgery?

I was wondering the same thing. If the repercussions would be that serious then I would not chance it. If its just a matter of discomfort, then I would try for the vaginal delivery.

Re: Should i try for a vaginal delivery?? Please....WWYD?

I know vaginal deliveries with the pushing are rough in that area - I ended up getting a fissure from all the pushing and it was NOT fun - I'm so scared for that the second time around.

Not knowing the possible complications the OB is worried about - aside from just it being worse and a worse recovery (which isn't enough for me to choose a C-section) I can't really say but, for me, the major draw back to the C-section is that is pretty much a life long decision - the risks of a VBAC are there so most likely if you go the C-sectiton route that is what you are going to have to do for each subsequent delivery too - also, I'm not a big fan of surgery unless it is ABSOLUTELY necessary.

I think though this is a VERY personal decision that only you and DH can decide - just make sure yo uget all the info you need from your OB and take it from there - I think this is something you can only decide.

Good luck! Either way you will have a beautiful healthy baby in the end!

They hadn't mentioned anything like that. Just that if it flares up again the recovery would be harder and more painful and i wouldn't be able to get them removed until 5 months post partum, no one will touch them until then. I go for another appointment friday, i think im going to talk to him some more about it.

If that is the case then I'd definitely try for a vaginal delivery.

I wouldn't get a c-section unless it was absolutely necessary, and there was no other option.

I don't know, people say c-sections are so much harder to recover from, but I had an emergency c-section, after 15 hours of intense back labor, mostly unmedicated, and I have to say, my recovery was a breeze, particularly by comparison to my friends who delivered vaginally.

Because your OB recommended it, I would go w/the C-section. It sounds like things could get complicated and then you'd have to have an emergency c-section...

I hope all goes wellChat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon
