Another name pronunciation
How would you pronounce the name Madeline?
I know the common spelling is Madelyn now, but I'd rather go with the traditional spelling. If it's a , I don't want her to always be correcting people either though.

I completely agree with those pronunciations. As a school teacher of 400 students a year, I would go with the simple as it sounds spelling. Are you ok with Maddy as a nickname? Out of my 400 middle school aged children this year, I have 9 girls who would like to be called Maddy over their given name.

I am a teacher too, so I do think about this. I am fine with her being called Maddie. I know Madison is a popular for this nickname too. For Madeline, although phonetically I would pronounce it Mad e line, I think a lot of people refer to it like -lynn.
I could always spell it Madeleine but DH doesn't like it that way and I don't like it with the "y." We agree on the harder part...the name, just not the spelling!

That's what I always thought but lately I've seen people reading the name at -lynn.
Pottery Barn Kids has a "Madeline" collection. I went so far as to point to the title and ask the sales person to tell me the name of the collection! She said -lynn.
