LG front loaders... i have a question
my laundry STINKS!!!!!! it smells like its not getting clean. forget it if i dont take the laundry out AS SOON AS THE TIMER GOES OFF the smell is so awful i have to rewash. i feel like thats just not normal... am i doing something wrong?

are they new machines??
we just bought fridgidare machines (front loaders) and my wash comes out smelling sooooooo gross. Almost like a mildew/rubbery/stale smell.
No matter how many times I rewash them it stinks. I always put a dryer sheet in with the load to dry b/c it takes the smell away.

We have a brand new LG front loader steam washer and dryer and we've never had a problem with them - no weird smell.
Are you using the HE detergent? Also, make sure that you dry the rubber seal with a towel after every wash, and leave the door to the washer open to prevent any mildew or mold from developing. Also, make sure you drain the excess water from the washer twice a month. There is a small door on the bottom - look at the maintenance instructions for specifics but its really easy, take a minute.

they also make a product to help get rid of that smell. i'll try to find the name

yes i use the HE detergent and the machines arent even 2 months old.... and yes its a nasty mildew smell... i didnt know about the leaving the door open so i will do that. im wondering if it has something to do with the water?

seems like it must be a common problem since tide, clorox and a bunch of other people make washing machine cleaners. they claim to get rid of the musty smell

how do i avoid this though... i do a load of wash at night before bed because thats just when i have time to get there.. and when i go down in the am to put it in the dryer the stench is  i actually have to rewash it before i can dry it... i cant stand it

It is definitely mold. I have an LG. You HAVE to leave the door open AND dry the rubber gray ring off fully before you close it. They are notorious for getting mold. That means mold is getting washed right into the clothes. Google it and you will see...you gotta dry the whole ring off after use before closing it. Annoying i know.

You cannot wash clothes then leave them for hours (any machine). You must take them right out. You are creating a situation for them to get moldy.

That stinks Sorry couldn't resist.
I don't have this issue with ours.
I guess the obvious answer is to just do the load in the AM since you end up rewashing them.

It's a very common problem with front loading machines. I researched it before buying ours.
You have to leave the door open when you take the laundry out until it's dry. Drain any excess water from the filter (a flip door thing in the front) about eveyr week or so.
Also, every week, I run a cycle of hot water with bleach (no laundry) through. You can buy the stuff that's specially made or you can just use bleach (according to consumers and the salesman we bought from). We haven't had an issue and truthfully, I sometimes throw a load in before bed and move it to the dryer in the morning.

wow! thanks everyone for the info im really embarrased and feel pretty stupid i guess i should have done more research before using the machine!! i have a busy day a head of me tomorrow!

1 Do a tub rinse with clorox(there is a setting for this). Wipe the rubber door gasket down when you are done.
2 Drain the water from the trap door and clean the filter at least once a month
3 Always leave the door open after washing and try not to leave the laundry in there for periods of time
