I would do the same window treatment on both windows. If you don't really need or want the bamboo shade on the smaller window, than use the same sheers for the smaller window.

Ditto. you need the symmetry of the long sheers, even though the window is small. i have a window like that too, it's a pain!

Re: need window treatment help... pics
i agree that the windows should dressed the same. however, make sure that the rod extends about 6" or so past the smaller window on either side. this will give the illusion that the window is larger. i would actually have the panels flank the buffet or maybe an inch or two behind the buffet with the rest draped on either side. add height to the buffet and to fill in the empty wall space with candle holders, vase with flowers or decorative objects.
are you totally settled on the current panels and shades? i think it would like great if you incorporated the accent color (blue, red?) of the room in the panels (a simple pattern, not solid). repeat the color by adding a table runner, chair pads and new chandelier shades.

i would leave it without anything or just add something to the top like the PP mentioned. It's a small window and IMO would look silly with long drapes.

What about using a sheer valence for the smaller window?

i guess will try the same long sheers. i just put up the sheers andblinds and did so because the room is small and i wanted to get more light so the room will feel larger. i had already had blue drapes in there and red. it darkens the room too much so i'm trying to just stick to some colored accessories.
thanks for all the input.
