Re: how would you pronounce this?

My sons name is braeden and some people just cannot grasp it. They call him brandon or brendan all the time. My grandmother still cannot pronounce it. I don't know why ! The name is not all that "different".
I def don't get why people think it is so difficult.
My sons spelling is similar, it is Braeden.

I agree, that's what I would say as well.

As far as people saying "Brendan" or "Branden" it's just how our brains are wired, in reading they call it prediction. The majority of the letters and orders look familiar and your brain grasps for the most familiar word to go with it. We all said "bray-den" because we were asked how it is pronounced and we slowed down to look at each sound intentionally.

This is why growing up everyone would see my name and call me "Jeanie" instead of "jeannine", people will mis-pronounce it, but your son will also learn to anticiapte that and correct them.Chat Icon

Totally, people screwed up my name left and right growing up...to me, how hard is it to pronounce Alissa?? But people would call me everything but including Alison?!?!? So now they're adding a letter that's not even there, but I guess they just saw the Alis and since Alissa was never really super popular their brains just resorted to what was familiar, and that was Alison.....whatever. For ther record, I would pronounce it like Bray-den.

I agree. I can definitely see some people screwing it up, but people screw up names all the time. I like the name. Chat Icon
