Re: Is your husband.........

my hubby is totally suportive even before being on bedrest he would do things for me he wouldnt usually do. Now that I am on bedrest he is the cooker, food shopper, the cleaner, does the laundry goes to the store to get things for me...like gifts for baby/bridal showers that I had been invited to (but cant go) he feeds me in bed makes the bed for me so I am more comfy gets me magazine and books from the library, lets me use his laptop...(he never let me use it before) I am sure there is more but basically putting me before himself...Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Is your husband.........

I feel very fortunate because DH has been amazing from the beginning. He is super excited. He didn't come to one doctor's appt. and he was upset that he missed it and has now vowed to be there for every appt. He cleans the house, cooks, rubs my feet, back, etc.

I would defiinitely talk your husband. I am sure he is just stressed and scared.

Re: Is your husband.........

My DH has been the same through all 3 pregnancies he doesnt really get too involved till the baby comes out I think its fear since we have miscarried before..But once the baby is here in the hospital he takes over completely Im not even allowed to change the babies dieaper in the hospital. This pregnancy he has been more concerned and attentive since we have had quite a few scares..

I am really lucky to have my DH..he is very hepful and really caring at this time when I am uncomfortable and cranky. He cleans, cooks and basically makes sure that I have what I need when I need it. He is really busy with work and even with working regular hours plus 40 hours of overtime a month he is always positive and by my side.

Re: Is your husband.........

DH is supporitive in that he is helpful and comforts me when I am not feeling well. He is all over getting the house set up and planning what we will do after the baby is born. He is also always making sure I don't over-exert myself.

But he is also a little standoff-ish when it comes to the baby, he doesn't get super exicted about ultrasound pics and doesn't want to come up with names until 7 months. He also keeps saying that it isn't a baby until it's born. He really behaves as if he is afraid to get too attached in case something goes wrong. It makes me a little sad sometimes, but I really try to see that he is showing his excitement and love for the baby through what he does to prepare instead of rubbing & kissing my belly.

My DH was excellent during my first pregnancy and is again during this one. He is working tons of overtime but he tries to help me as much as possible. And he's one of those guys that loves Chat Icon pregnant women so he's always rubbing my stomach and kissing it. He's been very cute.

Re: Is your husband.........

My DH was very excited when I got pregnant with DS but didn't really get into the idea, so to speak, until I started showing. Sometimes I guess men need a visual to remind them their lives are about the change in a big, wonderful way.

Some men are also much less emotional than women and focus on what they consider to be the practical factors surrounding the new baby to be.

Re: Is your husband.........

He is doing his best and that's all I can ask. We have been through a lot to get to being pregnant with obstacles and a lot of disappointments on the way. He is a pretty conservative man, so I have to remember that he will not approach and react to things the way I do.

He is also not carrying this child and will never understand how it feels to be pregnant. He will never know the physical wear and tear I experience. It wouldn't be fair to expect him to.

At the same time, he worries about how we will pay for things when I am on leave. This is why he encouraged me to work this summer so that we could have a bit of a cushion. In my heart, I know he is right. I never want to have to struggle. Without his practical sense of planning and management (he is an managerial analyst by trade), we could have blown everything we have to prepare for this child and ended up sh*t's creek without a paddle.

So to answer the question, he IS supportive in his way.

Re: Is your husband.........

My husband is absolutely wonderful. He is so thrilled with me being pregnant. He tells me every day how beautiful I am, he rubs my belly and talks to the babies. He out of nowhere tells me how he can't wait to be a father. He changes the kitty litter and cleans the house without complaining. I had a bit of a cold this week and stayed home on wed. I cooked dinner and he told me how he was proud of me that I wasn't complaining about being sick and still cooked dinner and how he loved that about me. If I tell him my back is bothering me, he massages it. When my butt was hurting from sitting all day, he went out and bought me a butt pillow.
I am so lucky and more in love with my husband than I ever have been before.

Sorry for the mushiness!!Chat Icon

I feel the same. We just moved to a new city and it has been HARD especially as I get further along. 99% of the time he is absolutely awesome. I think he wants the "old me" back. But that will come soon enough. Otherwise he has been my rock and my best friend, as always.Chat Icon

Re: Is your husband.........

I have to say overall he has been very supportive....I wish I could get more foot massages...but hey you can't get everything...This is his first child (my second) and everyday he talks to her and kisses her good morning and good night...and to me that is the most sweetest thing ever....He also has been working a lot of overtime...but he is taking it like a trooper...to be honest this time around I'm so happy to have someone like him on my side..

Re: Is your husband.........

Well since it is our 3rd, he is not as attentive as he was with the first. But if I need to rest or am not feeling well, and I ask him for something he helps me out without complaining. So I guess that's good enough for me!
