Has anyone heard of getting some sort of shot if you and your husband don't have the same blood type?
I was talking to some in my building today at work and he said that his wifes doctor gave her a shot because they have different blood types and it could affect her pregnancy after this one? My doctor didn't mention anything to me.

I had it. You get the shot at 28 weeks, and I think maybe again in the hospital.
I could be wrong, but I think it is only if you are neg and he is positive (like dh and I).
I got a blood type done and when they got my results as o neg, they sent dh to get his tested.

it's when you and your husband dont' have the same RH type-(+ or -) FOr instance my mom has o- blood and my dad has o+. Both me and brother have o+ blood. My mom had the shot after I was born so just in case some of my antibodies crossed the placenta my mom could have more kids. They didn't give her the shot after she had my bro and some of his antibodies did cross the placenta and it would be too risky for her to have had more kids after my brother. the antibodies would have attacked either my mother or the baby.
It's a simple blood test and if you know you blood type, you already know your RH factor

i am rh negative and get rhogam after i deliver ..i also had some bleeding and had to get it a few weeks ago, I fyou are Rh negative na dthe baby is positive your body can build up anitbodies agianst baby's blood...so they inject rhogam in the buttocks
