Difference between TTC and IF??
To borrow from MrsRbk....
TTC is too much of a revolving door for me.
What is the defining line between TTC and IF?
It seems like some people are on here a week, have 2 posts, post their BFP and then they are gone to the Pregnancy Board.
Is it more appropriate for irregular posters to just share their good news on the Pregnancy Board or is it more appropriate for those of us who have been here multiple cycles to move to IF?

Re: Difference between TTC and IF??
Interesting question...to which I don't really have an answer. I think maybe it's wherever you feel most comfortable. I think for some people it is a tough move to go the IF board because it means facing bigger issues. I do agree though that it is sometimes odd for people to introduce themselves on TTC and then in the next post to say "BFP!" I think your idea of just posting that in Pregnancy might be more appropriate. I think that they are probably just thinking that they want to share the news with everyone that they can. I'll feel the same way I bet!

Re: Difference between TTC and IF??
I started posting on the IF board probably when I learned I would need medical assistance getting pregnant. Before that I was on the TTC board.
I made my announcement on the IF board and I think I crossed-posted it to TTC.

Re: Difference between TTC and IF??
I think they just get too caught up in their excitement to know that some people feel a little down when they see another poster's BFP. Even if you are not going through true IF, every month you are trying that you don't get a BFP it gets a little harder.
Some of them may not have even lurked here before they post so they don't know that for most people it takes a more than 1 or 2 months.
I didn't realize this when I first got pregnant and probably made a similar annoucement on this board. Now that we are getting ready to start TTC for another, I think a little differently.
I do think that everyone on here is genuinely happy for these folks.

Re: Difference between TTC and IF??
I dont think any of us planned on staying here as long as we have.
I figured I would be on here 2 months and then move on to the pregnancy boards. Some girls probably never thought it would happen that quick either, so they post hello and next post turns out to be BFP.
It's frustrating when they stop by for 2WW and get to go right to the Pregnancy board. It's depressing that many of us end up back here after a BFP.
I think it's a nice support system for everyone.
I've checked IF boards, but unless you know you have specific problems IMO TTC is a better place.
On the bright side - think how depressing this board would be if we didnt get those random BFPs.

Re: Difference between TTC and IF??
I imagine that I would cross over to IF if we end up having any issues that we find out from the SA, or if we need IUI, if we need IVF, if we need to do any injectables or fertility medications. I guess like PP mentioned, if we need medical intervention I guess I will cross over. I think the ladies on IF would have more knowledge and experience with those things.
I agree that TTC is like a revolving door. I've only been here for about 10 months, and I've already seen many many people come and go. The ladies I started trying with have all come and gone - some are having their babies, finding out the sex, etc. There are many women who have been here much longer than I have too, so I guess it's a matter of choice.
I do think it's more appropriate for people who have never posted on TTC to announce their BFP on the pregnancy board.
As happy as I am for each and every person that gets their BFP, it stings a little to see someone get their BFP on the first try. I think that kind of knowledge is something that is learned through experience though. I'm sure that no one posts their BFP on here to make anybody else feel bad at all.
Wow, I just wrote a book!

Re: Difference between TTC and IF??
I do find that a little strange, but maybe that's just because if I had been in that position, I probably would've just gone straight to the pregnancy board & posted the announcement there. I do feel genuinely happy for anyone who gets a BFP no matter what the circumstances, but if I'm going to be honest, it can be hard to see it sometimes from someone who was on this board for a week or two when I'm still waiting & it just makes me feel like my turn will never come. I feel terrible for feeling that way, but I guess I can't help being human. I do completely understand being excited & just wanting to share the news though.
As far as moving onto IF, I don't think I would do that unless we found that we had some kind of issue that would require medications, IUI or IVF. I just feel like I really don't fit in with others who have established a need for at least some level of medical involvement & I feel like it wouldn't be right to post over there simply because it's hard to watch so many people come & go when it feel like I've been stuck here (or bouncing back here...) forever.

The majority of people here will get pregnant within the average amount of time. IF is when TTC alone doesn't work, and you need medical assistance. I have been trying to get pregnant for 2 years now, we have male factor infertility and I just don't ovulate on my own. IF becomes LIFE consuming literally... sometimes daily doctors appointments for sonograms and bloodwork. Your whole life revolves around IF because you can't make any plans when you are cycling, especially when you are in the throws of IVF and are giving yourself daily injections sometimes multiple times per day.
Basically what I was trying to say with the revolving door comment, is that for the most part us ladies on the IF board have been there a long time. While I'm happy for each and every BFP here, sometimes it gets too much and hurtful to see women come and go so quickly here on the TTC board. Which is why I stay mostly on the IF board, I relate better with those ladies. I also never lurk on pregnancy board or the parenting board.

I 100% agree. I feel the same way. I just think that if you have never posted here at all then go straight to the pregnancy board and announce it there. At least that is something I would do.
I bounce back and forth. I post mostly on here but I do post on IF when I have questions about the methods and medicines I have to take. I found my RE through all the recommendations the ladies shared with me. It's the best place to go when you are beyond confused or need hugs.

Re: Difference between TTC and IF??
The Infertillity board is for people who are dealing with a serious condition - Infertility.
I did not post on IF until I had confirmed with an RE that I had elevated FSH. Until then, I was on TTC.
IF isn't for those who are "tired" of TTC, it's for those who can't get pregnant by conventional TTC methods.

Re: Difference between TTC and IF??
I am somewhat of a newbie here on the TTC board. I remember when I first posted, a few girls wished me luck and said that they hope my stay on this board is short. I think some girls get BFP quicker. They probably would have posted longer on the TTC board if they didn't get pregnant so quickly.
My impression was that the TTC board was for people TTC through conventional methods. IF board is for women dealing with IF and seeking medical assistance.

Re: Difference between TTC and IF??
HI, I am on the pregnancy board, but I wanted to thank you guys so much for all the help you have given me in the past few months. I still read this board because I can't wait to see who is getting a BFP next. I realize that it may be hard for some people to watch it happen to others, but I think you are all amazing. Sometimes I tear up reading your posts, because I want it to happen for you guys too.

Re: Difference between TTC and IF??
I haven't made my way over to the IF board because I honestly don't feel like I am there just yet. As everyone above has stated, if we ever do find out that we have medical issues than I am sure i'll make my way over there but I DO NOT INTEND ON LEAVING TTC! For me, these are bonds that we've all created and I want to support those as much as I can that have supported me...that's all of you!
Naturally, I will announce here because I've been here a while and again, you have all supported me and helped me through. I will make my way over to the pregnancy board but I do plan on keeping in touch over here and peeking through. I'm not going to pick up and leave, unless that is what you girls would like. I hope to help with my experience and if I ever do get a BFP I hope to be a valuable resource of information.
BFP's naturally just make me happy but I do understand where you girls are coming from. I don't get disappointed, i just wonder if I'll ever get there.

Re: Difference between TTC and IF??
I originally only posted on TTC. After four months I set up an appt. to see an RE. Since that time I post on both boards. Even though I am now doing IUI, there is information on both boards that I take.
This month marks a year for me and I do agree we tend to see a lot of people come and go, but unfortunately there is still a number of us that have been here a while as well.

could not have put it better....
it's nice to see the BFP's - yes....but it also hurts a little....and it sucks to say that - but it's true....
sounds silly - but i kinda feel like i'm in 'the trenches' with you girls....and we're all in this together...and when a new person comes along and is like, HI and their next post is the BFP one i almost wanna scream....like, why are all the newbies having a great, easy time of it????
