Re: Who has sliding glass doors???

I bought vinyl blinds from Home Depot to cover ours. They go from the kitchen to the backyard.

The blinds cost around $20-25 and my FIL and DH put them up in about 15-20 minutes in the kitchen on Sunday.

Re: Who has sliding glass doors???

I don't have anything on my current sliders because I have a very large plot of land behind my house and it's totally private.

In my previous house, I got a nice decorative rod and plain sheers from Marburn Curtain Warehouse (rods and sheers can be expensive and they were a good buy there). If we were using the door a lot they were so much easier to push back.

I didn't want to go with blinds because I once lived in an apt. that had verticals on the sliders and it was a PITA to walk through and keep closed for privacy as it was the main door. If you really won't be using the doors as much then blinds are good too. Just something to consider.

Re: Who has sliding glass doors???

I dont think I have enough room to put a rod and curtain so I will probably go with blinds
this is a pic of the doors when they were first installed....see how the fridge is right next to it

Re: Who has sliding glass doors???

I have sliding glass doors in the kitchen and we use them for access to the deck pretty regularly. I have full length lace panels (84" I believe) on a decorative rod. I have matching valances on the kitchen window and half-glass door to our mudroom.

I bought three curtains so that they are full and gathered and not stretched completely across. I have a decoratative hold-back on one side so that I can hook the curtain around it on the side that slides open. Not sure if you can visualize what I mean, but they work really well for privacy and actually keep the sun out in the Summer and the heat in in the Winter.

The ones I got are Martha Stewart from Kmart. Kind of like these...

ETA: My fridge is right beside the door on one side also, but not the side that opens.

Re: Who has sliding glass doors???

We have them in our dining area leading to our deck and I have no idea what to put on them! I dont want to use curtains or blinds because I like how it looks w/o anything. I dont mind leaving it bare but DH thinks we should use something for privacy. We bought this spray from HD that's supposed to allow light to come in but makes the glass kinda foggy so that you cant really see in from the outside. We may just use that.

Re: Who has sliding glass doors???

We have a valance with pleated shades we just had installed underneath. I wanted them to let in as much light during the day but be able to get privacy at night, even though no one is behind us.

Here is a Picture of our sliders and with the curtains that we have.

We bought the curtain rod at linens and things and we got the micro fiber curtain at Home Depot.

Re: Who has sliding glass doors???

I have velvet curtains. I'll have to get something more seasonal for the warmer weather but I love the look right now. I'll post some pics when I get on my other computer.
