If you have your wedding on V-day and do a "heart" theme or any other Valentine's related theme, then that's cheesy.

Otherwise it's just another day in my book.

Can't say I would consider it romantic though. (But I've always felt V-day was an overrated, wasteful holiday...except when getting jewelry from DH. Chat Icon )

Re: Your Opinion....WR

I've never been one for V-Day so it certainly wouldn't be for me.

But I wouldn't think it was cheesy if that's what someone else wanted. It's their wedding, they should do what makes them happy and not care what I or anyone else thinks.

ITA. I am not a fan of V-day per se, but I would never criticize someone else for wanting to have their wedding that day.

I wouldn't consider it cheesy but I would also prefer to have my OWN day as my wedding day. I wouldn't want to share it with V-day, a birthday or any other public holiday.

I don't think it's cheesey but personally, I like to go out to dinner with my own significant other on V-day. Clearly it wouldnt be the end of the world to have to go to a wedding, but my preference would not be to go to a wedding on that day.

Re: Your Opinion....WR

Two friends of mine got married on V-Day when it landed on a weekend. They did not go over the top on a theme. One was picking all red roses and red bridesmaid dresses anyway. It was a lovely, elegant evening wedding.

They got engaged on that date a year before so she wanted the same date.

I'd rather not go out to eat with DH on V-Day and pay 50% more for the same meal I could have gotten on Feb 13 and sat in a lot less crowded restaurant.

Re: Your Opinion....WR

I think its romantic to get married on Valentine's day but would never do it. Just like I would never get married on New Year's Eve or any other holiday for that matter. I wouldn't want someone to have to come to my event rather than do what they want to do on that particular day.

Plus, it would get DH out of a gift (having anniversary and Valentine's on the same day) so I just couldn't have that! Chat Icon

Re: Your Opinion....WR

I wouldn't. Only because I would not want to celebrate my anniversary with the entire nation. I like having my own day to celebrate.

Re: Your Opinion....WR

Although to me Vday is kind of just a bogus holiday, DH and I don't get a chance to go out to dinner to celebrate that day, especially now with kids.

SO, if I had a wedding on that date, I'd be pretty excited to have a night to get dressed up, and just go out me and DH.. I happen to also love weddings..

Re: Your Opinion....WR

not that it's cheesy per se, unless you overdo it on the hearts and cupids and crap. But, as others have said:

A) it makes getting reservations on your anniversary tougher

and...

I dunno - to me the anniversary is supposed to be the one day special to tthe 2 of you, and not widely celebrated by the rest of the population.

Getting married on V-Day means you're sharing your wedding day with dating couples, as well as pimply teenagers who just decided to "go steady" Chat Icon
