Re: xpost: Has anyone travelled using their passport with madien name on it?
I have to do this w in the next year and I am confused. What amount will I have to pay just to change my name on the passport? And wouldn't it be better to do that instead of just putting tickets in maiden since your drivers license is in married?

You have to get a new passport to change your name - it is around $100. I just kept getting the tickets for international travel in my maiden name and when my passport expired I got a new one with my married name. If you are traveling domestically you can get the tickets in your married name since all you need is your license.

If your passport was issued UNDER a year ago, the change is free.
If it's been more than a year, you have to get another passport....and pay the fees of approx $100 or so. BUT the expiration date doesn't change. So if you get it and in 3 years your passport is going to expire, you will have to renew again.
This is why I haven't bothered to change my name. I've been married for 3.5 years and my passport doesn't expire until 2012.
As long as I book my tickets in my maiden name -- it's not an issue. In 2012, I'll finally bite the bullet and change my name and renew my passport at the same time.

Makes sense. Not too sure when mine expires, I'll have to check. But I know I did get it over a year ago. We got them when we went on our honeymoon. My next vacation is not until 2012 (sad I know).

So your tickets & passport are in your madien name but is your ID (license, I assume) in your madien name also? I'd think if the ID didn't match when checking in, there'd be also be an issue?

They do not ask for your license. All you need is your passport. The passport is your ID. As long as that matches the tickets, you're fine.

FYI - to change your name in your passport, you do NOT have get a new passport! All they do is endorse the old passport with a stamp in the back with your new name (it is free to do it). When they scan the passport in through the system, it comes up with the new name though.
When did you have this done bc passport website is not showing that info
3. In the past, my passport was amended with new or corrected information. Is that still possible?
No. Since September 26, 2005, Passport Services no longer amends currently valid passports. Instead, customers are issued replacement passports. Please see the chart above to determine which procedure is appropriate for your situation.
Oops, sorry for the mis-information then. I got married in 2004 and had my passport done then. Hopefully the OP was/is able to get it done in time!
