i see what you are saying. Lord knows I have said my share of stupid things, and yes, in those instances, you can make the argument that there comes a point where it is useless to continue the bashing.
But, in this case, where the line was crossed SEVERELY and HORRIBLY because of its nature, not to mention the fact that several members of this forum have had such horrible experiences in this area, this is not a case where she's gonna get a proverbial slap on the wrist for three posts and be done with it.
Given the nature, the continuous bashing is expected and IMO, understandable.

I do agree with this. Stupid comments are a common occurrence on LIFs.. I happen to know that I have made plenty of them, as have many others. But life goes on, we all move on. Stupid does not always equal "offensive" .. In this case, the offense taken by Jess' comments are obvious, given the reaction.
I'm not easily offended whatsoever but THIS post overall offended me.. and it was highlighted by the baby joke comment
Jess, I hope you never in your life have to suffer the loss of a child, or a miscarriage, or anything of the sort. Its a devestation that I do not wish on anyone in this world. Maybe to put it in terms that you WOULD be able to "get".. why don't you ponder how you'd feel if one of your dogs died or was killed, and someone here turned around and made a crude JOKE out of that? I dare say you would flip out on them, in fact I KNOW you would. I (nor MOST of us) would never "laugh" at the thought of an animal getting killed.. yet you laugh at the thought of a dead baby?
Perhaps one day if you (unfortunately) DO happen to go thru that, you'll be more enlightened or sensitive as to why you comments are probably some of the most offensive I've ever seen on this board. but again, I hope and pray you never go thru any type of loss
.. to sum, no matter how twisted and warped your sense of humor is... in attempting to defend yourself , you somehow dug yourself into a deeper hole. I cannot fathom WHY you'd made such a statement with the rest of a public forum, of which there are no less than 4 boards about TTC, Infertility, Pregnancy and Parenting

I'm with you 100% on this one Don.
As someone who is expecting and that being one of my biggest fears, I can understand everyone's outrage. I can't imagine how anyone can find that comment accpetable to say on this kind of forum. If people need to express their outrage- then let them.

i said we, not i. and i think WE need to do so by not bringing up unrelated issues. the issue here is the comment jes made and that needs to be our focus. not sure of how to resolve the situation (if that is even an option) but it does need to be addressed.
