I think you need to stand your ground. You can't tell others what to do nor can you control how others act.
I think this is your domain and I wouldn't let the presence of others dictate what you really want to do which is be with your family.
Go, stay, enjoy, ignore....
btw-I understand why your mom doesn't want to say no. Not all families can get along but you are family.
I am w/ you on this one.
I agree also!

IMO I would go. It was a fight between 2 adults and while he shouldnt have called you a B, you both escalted the situation. So you are both at fault to a point.
I would go and be an adult about it. You don't have to sit and talk to him all you have to do is be in the same room.
I agree.
Also for your son's sake, I'm assuming you explained you handled it wrong & ways you should have diffused the situation. It would be a good learning experience for him to see how you handle this. If cutting relatives off is what you're looking to teach him, then by all means, don't go to Grandma's on Christmas.

I agree. My family members are experts at holding grudges and it just makes things so much more uncomfortable. Just go and enjoy yourself. Don't let his presence be your dealbreaker.

Re: WWYD? Re Christmas day and family
Of course, I do not know the entire situation with you and your cousin. Therefore, what I say might miss the mark.
However, this is what I would do:
I would just go. If a situation starts, then leave. Otherwise, in my opinion, a lot can change in four years. My oldest brother has done horrors to our family, yet he will probably be at my extended family's Christmas Eve gathering. There is no way I would miss out on going.
To me, holding grudges is painful. I truly believe in forgiveness. If he is not asking for forgiveness, then I truly believe in civility. I don't think that any day of the year is the time to hold grudges, family members to have to choose one over another, etc...but especially not at Christmas.

Go, and if he starts anything make sure your mom kicks him out of there.
