WWYD?
DH and I are looking for a house. We haven't found one yet but are hoping within a few months we find home. I know once we get settled in our home, we will try for a baby.
I just got my work up done at the gyno. I am in good general health (Thank God). I never been on birth control. I have always gotten my period on time, I am complete clock work.
I have fibroids and two different dr's suggested I go on birth control to see if they shrink and to give my reproductive organs a rest.
I just went back for my annual and did a hormonal check up and was told my testosterone was slightly elevated. My dr said I should think about birth control to reduce my levels if I am not TTC soon. If we plan to TTC then don't bother.
I am petrified of going on the pill. My mom years ago had a blood clot from taking hormone supplements for her menopause and that's on the back of my mind. If my period comes on time every month, is it really smart to play around with man made hormones?
The pain I get each month for four days is seriously unreal (all because of the fibroids).
My questions is WWYD? I know we won't be TTC probably till the end of next year. Would you try the pill or is the elevated testosterone anything to worry about?

Re: WWYD?
Did they say it might be harder for you to conceive with the fibroids? If so, I might do it. I was never big with taking birth control, but I did for a few months for other reasons, and the month I came off, I conceived. So it didn't mess with my cycle in any way. I'm thinking it could help you when the time comes to start ttc. You might want to talk to your dr about that, bc it could end up being beneficial.

Re: WWYD?
Thank you for your reply. My DH thinks it would be beneficial to me too. Every dr I have been to recommends the BC. I've asked the DR if the fibroids could hurt my fertility, he said no because my fibroids are located on the muscle of the uterus. I am going away for two weeks and when I return I am going to make an appointment with the dr to go over the BC again. I am so anxious and nervous about it.

If I were in your position, I would probably take the BC. You said that you and DH were house hunting soon and weren't really going to TTC until you had purchased a home and were settled. The home process can take anywhere from a few months to a year or longer, as it depends on many factors. That time might be all you need on BC to help your fibroids and reduce your testosterone levels and if you weren't planning on TTC during that time anyways, its not wasted time and you'll hopefully be in tip top shape for when you're ready!
