WWYD?

I will be starting DD in daycare next month. We have her on the wait list for two daycares that I thought were excellent and it looks like she won't be able to start there until September in one case and January/February in the other.

So, we are no trying to decide between two back up locations.

Daycare A is about 2.5 miles from our house, it is within a couple of blocks from the LIRR in a station that has very frequent trains. I work in the city and this location would make it way easier for me to pick her up. My husband drives to work and it's about 25 minutes - faster during non rush hour times. We liked their programs and the facility looks nice. Also, got a positive recommendation from one of the parents using the site.

Daycare B is about 5 miles from our house and a little over a mile from an LIRR station that has fewer trains going to it. It is open half an hour later than daycare A but is more like 40 minutes from my husbands office. It is also farther for my mother and my MIL to get there and they will be picking her up early a few times each week. However, we both really liked this daycare better. The teacher in the infant room was great and we both liked the managers a lot. The facility is in a less nice area.

Cost is similar in both places so that isn't really a factor in deciding.

Basically, would you pick the facility/people you liked better or would you pick a place that you liked, but just not as much so that you could get there faster and maybe cut 2.5 hours plus out of commuting/having her stay there.

IMO I would pick the daycare I liked better.

To me you have to really trust and like the people you are leaving an infant with.

I love my DS's daycare and trust the teachers and other staff there. He is in th e12-18 room now but the teacher he had as an infant still checks in with him during the day and there was one day my DS was crying and she was the only one that could get him to calm down. So to me a little bit onthe incovenience on the getitng to the train/work would be minor compared to the staff.

I would pick B. I've gone with the closer/easier route instead of the one I had a great feeling about and ended up switching anyway.

B...Kids dont really understand time yet.. so when i pick my son up early thinking how happy hell be..... he doesn't even know it's early.. he's looking to eat dinner at 3:00..
