Me too. I thought they were bad for you b/c of all the alcohol in them. I know you are not supposed to use them on kids. And I definetely won't use them now that I'm pregnant. I think soap and water is good enough.
Not telling you what to do but I used them througout my pg. My OB (and I read a question on Babycenter.com) said they were safe.
Not suggesting you use them but if you may want to, just check with your OB.

Actually you shouldnt use it too much or it will defeat the purpose...Soap and water do the trick!!
I'm not sure that's true. They use them in hospitals all the time.
Sometimes they are nice to have when you are on a train or plane & someone coughs or sneezes on you & washing your hands right away isn't possible.
To the OP--the Duane Reade next door to me is also sold out of those masks.
(Not that I was buying them.)

I was at Stop and Shop this am and there was pently of hand sanitizer left.
check it out....
Also in someplaces there is no acess to soap and water for example on the Subway and LIRR so in this situation I think hand sanitizer is appropriate.
I myself cannot get thru my 2 hour commute without touching something that may come in contact with my eyes,mouth or nose.

Use baby wipes! Or do as my mom does...she carries alcohol with her.

I always try to keep a bottle of Jack Daniels on hand (and in mouth).

I'm a teacher, and as much as I tell my kids to wash their hands after the bathroom, I know some of them don't.  Or cover their noses when they sneeze. So I love hand sanitizer because I can't just leave to wash my hands.

I'm a big fan of hand sanitizers because you can't always wash your hands.
I carry it with me and use it ESPECIALLY after getting off the train or subway
