It was only after the board found out I knew a regular that what happened came out.
I think in your case, it may not be the MODS watching you but certain people who then immediately report your actions.
And to take this point one step further, the boards do have a tendency of getting clique-ish and for that certain people will try to make your posting life miserable.

That's exactly what I said in the first part of my post (that you took out of the quote).  I think it's non-mods who report the posts and those are the one the mods know about.
