Re: would you move in with in laws?

We moved in with my parents temporarily while doing renovations on our house because I was PG and that was actually kinda nice... however I WOULD NOT stay with his mom, I would rather live in a tentChat Icon

NO WAY

My MIL is way to controling she would have to have input in everything we did. We went to visit them for a week and i couldn't take it. I wanted to leave after one day..

We did for four months when we sold our first house and major renovations kept us from living in the house we bought.

IL's have a separate apt. (nice and HUGE) in their basement and we lived there. Separate kitchen, entrance etc.

MIL was great and always respected our privacy. FIL was a bit too clingy at times... always wanted to hang out. He got the message when we didn't answer the door a few timesChat Icon

I always knew it was temporary.

Re: would you move in with in laws?

No No No! Only if it were very temporary... like no more than 6 months.

My Step-mother's father lived with her and my dad for nearly 16 years... The tension was so thick in that house you could cut it with a knife.

Nope, and especially not with a baby. The "helpful" adivce would never stop.

I don't care for my ILs, but I wouldn't live with either of my parents either. I know they all mean well, but I couldn't wait for them to leave some days when Sarah was very young and they were trying to "help" by giving advice that was at complete odds with my doctor's. I'm the type that needs to learn by trial and error.

NOPE!!!!! No way, no how. They live in FL. I love them to death but thats when I dont have to sleep under the same roof as them of course. When we go and visit there are at least 2 or 3 pack-your-suitcase-up-call-the-airline-I-am-leaving type fights!

Re: would you move in with in laws?

My grandparents used to live upstairs from us when I was younger. I saw that it was hard on my parents and sometimes put a strain on their marriage. No matter how much you or DH get along with them, you definately need your own life. I live 4 houses away from my parents, and it can be a little challenging

But, it is good to have family close. I just advise that you be prepared for them ALWAYS being there. Good and bad.

Re: would you move in with in laws?

We lived with DH parents for about 6 months while we waited to close on our house. It wasn't too bad- and we didn't have a seperate anything except bedroom. Chat Icon There where times I REALLY wanted to have our own space, but not because of anything they did, just cause I never felt fully at home. They were GREAT!! And yea, if necessary, I'd do it again - or live with my dad. We're lucky I think.Chat Icon

I used to trap feral cats and get them fixed, then release them back to their environement.

Well.. I want to trap my mil (can't spay her cuz she is in her late 60's) and dump her inside the trap in the Atlantic ocean.

Re: would you move in with in laws?

I lived with an ex-boyfriend and his family, they knew about every fight and always got involved. It made things so much worse and it wasn't that they always took his side, but even when they took my side, it just added fuel to the fire and made the fights last longer. I would not recommend it.
