would you do something 50 mins away when you are 39w?
I really want to see my cousin in her production of Beauty and the Beast (she is playing Belle) but its just under an hour drive and I will be 39 weeks.
Would you go?
Dh's aunt is fine with buying the tickets for it and if we can't make it its for a good reason so i figure it doesn't hurt to get the tickets and go if there's no baby...
I will also have been home from work a week so I might be looking for a nice outing on a saturday...
Thoughts?

I would go. can you choose the seats? I went to the movies at 39 weeks and I sat in the back row (short theatre) and was able to get up and stretch and stand behind everyone while still watching.

Absolutely not.
My doctor told me I was not allowed to be more than 45 minutes away from the hospital after 36 weeks. Believe me, it caused a LOT of drama at Christmas (we didn't go to the ILs who are 1.5 hrs away).
It's up to you, but I'd ask your OB. Mine was very specific about it. Unless you'd be closer to your hospital when you're at the play and would be prepared to go straight there barring an emergency.
The midwife at my OB's practice also told me that long car rides can bring on labor which was another reason they didn't allow it.
I also know I would not have been comfortable. I was miserably uncomfortable and barely sleeping at 39 weeks.

Absolutely - you have to do what YOU are comfortable with .........I went everywhere and did everything regardless of time / traffic etc etc as long as I was comfortable ..........There's no way I'd be sitting at home just waiting for that baby come from 36 or whatever weeks on ...........- You could be early, you could be late ....you could be REALLY late ....KWIM?? It's not like you're traveling to Guam !!

I would as long as you are feeling up to it. My commute to work is anywhere from 1 to 1.5 hours from my home and about 45 minutes to an hour from the hospital and my doctor is ok with it. I had the same commute with both of my girls and I worked right up to the day I delivered with both of them.

i would.. if my LO decides to make an appearance on a weekday then i'll have an hour's commute.. if your dr. is fine with it, then i would go..

With my first dc I lived an hour away from the hospital and with traffic it could have been more like 2 hours. I wasn't concerend.

it would probably be a decision i make closer to the event...
Its not the distance that would be a problem... id see the sitting in an uncomfortable chair for a few hours the worse of the two...

That would be my main concern as well. At 39 weeks, every position is uncomfortable.
I would think that the distance is fine. There is no shortage of hospitals on LI in case of emergency.

First pregnancy, yes bc things move slow.
Seeing how my first was quick, I wouldn't for #2 since the second delivery is usually faster.
