Would you buy your DS a doll stroller? (with poll) - **UPDATE** DH REACTION

Every time I go to my friends homes who have DD, my son plays with the baby doll stroller for long periods of time. I never put any thought into the toys my DS plays with (regarding gender specific items). Today I went to Target specifically to buy DS a stroller. My DH doesn't know yet and I'm really not sure how he is going to react or what he might say. I still don't think there is anything wrong with him playing with a stroller but should I??

My DH was not happy with my decision on purchasing DS a doll stroller at all! He kept asking me "what is wrong with you?" As if I have some sort of mental illness

I didn't really try to defend myself as I didn't want this to escalate into an unnecessary argument. I just kept telling him, he LOVES it and its entertaining to him. He puts trucks in it and plays with the buckle and wheels - it's not like I bought him a doll to go with it

WHATEVER.....he'll get over it!!!

I don't think that there is anything wrong with it, but I could see how some DH's would (not that I agree with that).

I bought DD a tool set for Chrismas since she loves to help Daddy.

OK well a few months ago I would have said never in a million years. BUT now everytime DS is at my mom's house he goes straight for the doll and stroller I don't think I will get one for here, but I have thought about buying him a doll. So I don't think you're crazy, but I don't know how my DH would react to it. He wasn't a huge fan of the shopping cart either though

Landon has one - a pink one actually! Its one of his favorite toys. DH doesn't mind. DH pushes DS in the stroller so what is the big deal?

Yes I would.

I see it as no different than a dad pushing his child in a stroller. I dont see pushing a stroller feminine just as I dont see playing catch as masculine.

But i totally understand others have different views.

However, if it makes you feel any better since your on the fence, I see little boys with little strollers in the park frequently. Just today my DD tried to swipe a boys lol. They have them in navy blue and even the maclaren ones come in blue

I will say I see them pushing the strollers, but they dont have babydolls in them

absolutely. We don't have one yet, but DS loves to push around the shopping cart more than anything! We went to open play at the library the other day and he adored the doll strollers also. I told DH I was thinking about getting him a baby doll and a stroller and there was even a batted eye.
Why can't a boy play daddy like a girl can play mommy? I mean maybe if he tried to breast feed the doll, I tell him that is something girls do, but other than that, what's the issue?

if I had a DS I wouldnt mind if he had a stroller.

I bought DD a tool box playset and she loves it.

Of course, my DH pushes one so why shouldn't he? Then again, this is the norm by us, all the kids, boys AND girls have toy strollers with either babies or stuffed animals in them, it's cute and there shouldn't be anything gender biased about it.

It irritates me that a lot of the companies that make toys that are usually referred to as "girl' toys , don't use more primary colors...I think that people that have an issue with it can't see past the traditional thinking of "pink=girl'

I just found this nice wooden one online and ironically there is a boy using it

I wouldn't care, but not sure DH would be down with it, and he definitely would not want a PINK one.

Can I just add that I was in Home Depot one day & a big manly man, who was in construction gear was carrying his son who was probably about 3 or 4 & the boy was holding a doll. It was a doll in a girly dress. It was awesome to see that! Go dad!

yes and my dh doesn't mind. I actually bought him a blue one (with pink hearts LOL) at TRU and it is one of his FAVORITE toys!

Nothing wrong with it at all. They want to be like mommy and daddy, caring for their own "baby". It teaches nurturing and resposibility. They may toy strollers in blue now for this reason.

My nephews had strollers for their Mickey Mouse or boy Cabbage Patch. And they are now teenagers who are excellent caretakers of their younger cousins.

DH fought me on it but DS tried to steal all the other little boys' strollers in the park (in the city they ALL seemed to have them!) so I just went and bought a navy blue boyish looking one.

I don't have a DS but I would toally buy a stroller for a DS if I had one. I think it teaches important nuturing skills and try to encourage what my DC is interested in. My husband pushes a stroller regularly, why would I have an issue with my DS imitating this behavior?

I buy DD trains, cars and tool sets. She is constantly walking around the house "fixing" things with her little screw driver.
