i would definitely take it!! it may be hard, and more stressful at first, but thats what keeps life interesting. Also, eventhough i don't think that someone needs to take Every opportunity that's thrown their way (especially if the 'rewards' arent worth it)... if you turn down too many opportunities, that may stop arising 
I'm sure you'd be Fine!! You're Strong, and i think that the variety will make you thrive more, while also giving you so much more experience, to make you That much more valuable.

I missed this post last night, but I just wanted to add my .02 cents and say that I think you are totally making the right decision, Jen!
I think you are definitely up for the challenge will this step will make you so much happier... you already said you enjoy the work, and to me that is half the battle .. loving what you do in your workplace on a regular basis (even if it is more hours/responsibility) is truly going to fulfill and enrich your life in the end

I didnt read most of the responses but by 24/7 do you mean "on call"? I will tell you if its on call....ABSOLUTELY NO WAY, NO HOW! Me and DH work in the same profession as you do. He once took an on call professional position...it couldnt **** more! As for me, I also did one that was on call and the first BS phone call with in 3 days....I QUIT! OH by the way y on call I dont mean per diem I mean full time and then ALOT MORE!

Well if its not on call then the hours cant be that bad...still got yourself on LIF at 630
But really I personally would take the position for now. As far as future goals like some people had mentioned, why dont you look into establishing a private practice. Thats my end goal. Working for yourself will be the best and you wont have all the work drama like everyone posts about. Also $$$ is much better!!!!
