Work pet peeves.
Yes I'm at work on a Sunday so that's part of my pet peeve. But my real problem is the girl that comes in and bangs her mouse 12 times to start her computer. I mean bangs like it owes her money. It's super annoying. And does nothing to make the computer work faster.
Please add yours.

Work pet peeves.
I'd be here all day if I listed my pet peeves, but I do have a good story from last week.....
I was on a different floor for a meeting. I went to the bathroom (shared, 3 stalls) and there was a girl in there on a phone interview. A phone INTERVIEW. In the bathroom. With automatic flush toilets. So, I do my business and this interview sounds like its going well so I don't want to get up and have the toilet flush. I sit there for 10 minutes, which is a long time to stare at the door of a toilet stall. Finally it ends, I go to wash my hands as the girl is on her way out and she gives ME a dirty look.
In retrospect, I did her future employer a disservice by allowing him to hire the type of person who takes phone interviews in a public bathroom. People are the worst.

Re: Work pet peeves.
Mine are pretty specific to my role.
I tend to be the dumping grounds during lunchtime for everyone's patients to eat due to space issues.
I also run a program that is run in a group format so unless you do this and understand group dynamics, it's tough to understand that your family member or referral may not fit in even though they have X diagnosis.
To add onto this, some of my patients do not do well with lots of hours at the program, many families try to push me to increase their hours when clinically that's so inappropriate.
I have an upcoming meeting where I know this is going to be a fight.
Lastly, family and providers who try to get me to do things for the patient that are outside of my scope of practice, then complain about the program because I cannot ethically do something.
Awww, it's been a great week away!!!

Work pet peeves.
I went from a job where I loved all of my co-workers to one where I feel like a complete outcast. They all hang out outside of work, or go to grab lunch together, and I haven't been asked once. It's very isolating.
I also tried being honest about my weaknesses up front, and my job is pretty much my weak area, so I feel like I was ignored. I don't like to fail, so I'm trying my hardest, but I feel defeated.

Work environment definitely will make or break a job.
I also find it rude to make plans in front of you but not offer, especially if it's an ongoing thing.

Re: Work pet peeves.
My latest peeve : I'm going to be out on medical leave for a significant amount of time. Told my managers 5 weeks ago that I will be out starting September 30th. They still have not planned out who will take over my job during that time so that I can train that person. But that is so typical for the Japanese company I work for. It's just adding a lot of anxiety to an already stressful situation.

Work pet peeves.
I have so many pet peeves , but here are a few:
- people in cubicles that talk over the wall. I find it rude that they can't be bothered to walk around to talk to me to my face (especially when they just start having conversations and I'm on the phone).
- at my last job, the receptionist kept making some weird throat noise. Not like clearing her throat, but more like clicking the back of her tongue to scratch her throat. I could hear it all the way across the lobby and into my office.
- people who play their music too loud. You shouldn't be able to hear it coming out of an office (and in my last location 2 different people in offices played music loudly so it was like a mess where I sat.
- people who take things off your desk without asking or stand right in front of you having a conversation that has nothing to do with you. I don't take jobs anymore where I have to sit in an open area (reception or open cubicle) b/c this really drives me nuts since it shows a lack of respect for someone else's space.

Re: Work pet peeves.
Groups of coworkers at all different times deciding to stand and congregate for a very loud and involved discussion RIGHT OUTSIDE my open office door when you have the entire loooooong hallway with no other offices and an adjacent empty conference room to choose instead.
The guy on the other side of the office belching loudly.
The same guy doing horrible impersonations and being super annoying and loud.
It being frigid at all times in the office no matter what time of year it is I always have to be dressed for winter.

Work pet peeves.
I'm a teacher in a shared space.
Scattering papers and crap all over the table along with leaving beverages and liquids open all over spilling on papers. It is disgusting.
Spilling coffee in multiple places, places it should never be spilt, and then with a deer in headlights look wonder why and how it spilled.

Work pet peeves.
There is a woman who sits in an open alcove across the hall from my office. I think she is congested every single day because I can hear her mouth breathing all day, every day - from across the hall! I know it's really petty of me but it annoys the crap out of me

- talking on their cell phone while in the bathroom. - using the stall right next to me in an empty bathroom even though the other three stalls are open. -Complaining about people taking off so much time in the summer, yet you take just as much time off if not more. - Calling out sick because someone else who you didn't like has off that week. - Complaining you don't have enough hours in the day to get your work done, yet you get numerous personal calls and sit on FB all day

Re: Work pet peeves.
I work in an open office setting and the printers are next to me. It drives me NUTTY when someone walks over to the printer and takes something out and starts to read it, when they know they didn't print anything. I have to look the other way because I want to say something every time.
Also, like a PP said already, when someone takes something off your desk without asking. I get so annoyed.
And it's always the same person who does both things, so I just can't stand them.
Ooh and when I'm eating and people pass by my desk and HAVE to comment on what I'm eating. Not in a bad way, just like 'Oh, whatcha got there?' or ''YOU'RE eating cereal?' 'Ummmm, yeah I am'. Ugh...

Ear buds! I go to client sites with my team. How can one really think wearing ear buds at a client site is appropriate? I am old school!

Re: Work pet peeves.
The bathroom stall thing bugs the crap out of me. Like why?? Use an empty one that's not right next to me.
I also have a co worker that talks to herself all.day.long. Laughs out loud and has conversations with herself. It's the single most distracting thing ever. She also just stands by another workers desk and waits until she's off the phone to just talk about her life. Like all she can talk about is herself. So annoying

Re: Work pet peeves.
- playing heavy metal and rock music loudly at one's desk which is located in the reception area of the office
- putting paper in a stapler (that is on a desk) and BANGING the living hell out of it, instead of holding the stapler in your hand and simply staple the papers
-when one person takes over the company fridge with their food for the week, so nobody else can put anything else in.
-complaining about fellow employees or contractors/clients directly in front the of the supervisor.

This is my HUGE one. It doesn't help that there is a printer outside my office so people go to get their stuff and start congregating and talking loud. I have had to shut my door on several occasions and sometimes- depending on my mood and how long and loud they are talking- I will close it with a little more force than necessary.
SOOOO annoying/

I once shared an office and my officemate would always use speakerphone or take group conference calls in my office. That killed me.

Re: Work pet peeves.
I work in a small office, just me, my boss and one other person (who happens to be my SIL) we all get along great, thankfully. My only pet peeve is my boss has ZERO clutter on his desk and always tells us that we don't - and that is because anything he doesn't want on his desk he puts on ours and half the time doesn't tell us. Then a week or so later, he asks for it and there it is buried under more crap he leaves my on desk.
ETA: I occasionally visit a clients office, and while I was there once I was in the bathroom and someone was talking on their cell phone, and they even said I am in "company name" Laboratory. Seriously?! Fist of all yuck! and second it is Lavatory.

Re: Work pet peeves.
- People who complain they don't have enough time to get work done, but spend most of the day having social conversations with other co-workers.
- People who don't let me even put my purse down when I walk in before calling me in for something
- I have one particular coworker who does both of the above, and basically everything she does bothers me. Even to the point where she comes to me first thing in the morning and is like "So what are you working on????" Ummm, paperwork, my schedule, seeing clients.....my freaking job!!! What do you think I'm working on?!?!?!?! Not to mention I have my schedule (client visits, travel, etc) on my cubicle wall for everyone to see and it's on a shared electronic calendar. Freaking look there!
